Today in the Chamber, I gave the SNP a lesson about distinguishing between legal and illegal immigration. While legal immigration has many benefits, illegal immigration comes with many costs. We see people, predominantly adult men, arriving to our shores in small boats, lorries and other illegal methods. At a time when Scotland is experiencing a housing emergency, the SNP are forcing hard-working taxpayers to pay millions to house these migrants. The SNP are simply not living in the real world.

Jennings shut him down immediately. SELLERS: “The facts are this, only 5% of the people that they have deported thus far are violent criminal offenders. 73% of the individuals have no criminal record.” Sellers already noticed Scott Jennings shaking his head in disbelief. India has now overtaken Britain as the largest source of foreign-born people living in Australia. 3.5% of people living in Australia were born in India. Approximately 6% of Australia is ethnically Indian if you include those born here. In 2000, fewer than 100,000 Indians lived in Australia; now it’s over a million. That number has more than doubled in the last 10 years. RedBridge analysis shows 70–85% of Indians voted for Labor, even though they are often seen in Australia as “natural conservatives.” The explanation for this discrepancy, according to the analysis, is that the right’s rhetoric on immigration scared them off.
