These same drones are used by Iran against countries in the Middle East and beyond. The Iranian regime chose to become Putin’s accomplice, supplying not only drones but also the technology behind them. Iranian and Russian regimes support each other, and there is growing evidence, including Russian parts in Shahed drones, that now hit Iran’s neighbours. The Iranian people deserve a chance to rid themselves of a terrorist regime and ensure safety to all nations hit by terror originating in Iran. The world is stronger than those who seek to destabilise it. We call on our partners to act decisively.

Russia struck the heart of Lviv – a historic centre recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On 24 March, Russian drones hit central areas of the city, damaging homes and a protected cultural landmark. At least 13 civilians were injured. The same day, other Ukrainian cities – including Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, and Ivano-Frankivsk – were also targeted. At least 3 people were killed. 💬 "Russia is doing exactly what the Iranian regime is doing in the Middle East, but in the middle of Europe. Russia proves its status of a terrorist state. And this is how it must be dealt with – through strength, not weakness, and increased pressure on all fronts," said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha 🇺🇦. Today I spoke with leaders of countries currently under attack from Iran – the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Amir of Qatar. We will continue this diplomatic engagement with the broader Middle East and Gulf region. Ukraine stands in solidarity with all those who are resisting the spread of war and violence. For decades, the Iranian regime has invested in destroying the lives of its neighbors and others wherever it could reach. It was on that very foundation that they became accomplices of Russia in the war against Ukraine. Every “shahed” drone in Ukrainian skies proves that the Iranian regime must be held accountable for its attempts to destroy lives and kill people. It is essential that those who defend life prevail in this confrontation. At the level of our teams – the Ukrainian team, the teams of the Emirates and Qatar, and other states – we will determine how, together, we can provide stronger protection for life. Ukraine’s expertise in countering “shahed” drones is currently the most advanced in the world, and these drones represent the primary challenge in that region as well. It is clear why so many requests are directed to Ukraine. However, any such cooperation aimed at protecting our partners can only proceed without diminishing our own defense capabilities here in Ukraine. Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, Russian strikes continue, and protecting Ukrainian lives remains our first priority.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for a new regional security framework without outside powers, just hours after Iran attacked Bahrain and Kuwait in response to US strikes. Speaking in Baghdad, Araghchi said security in the Persian Gulf should be ensured by countries in the region and welcomed Iraq’s proposal for talks between Iran, Iraq and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council. It is essential that those who defend life prevail in this confrontation. ​At the level of our teams – the Ukrainian team, the teams of the Emirates and Qatar, and other states – we will determine how, together, we can provide stronger protection for life. ​Ukraine's expertise in countering "Shahed" drones is currently the most advanced in the world, and these drones represent the primary challenge in that region as well. ​It is clear why so many requests are directed to Ukraine. However, any such cooperation aimed at protecting our partners can only proceed without diminishing our own defense capabilities here in Ukraine. ​Russia's war against Ukraine continues, Russian strikes continue, and protecting Ukrainian lives remains our first priority. ​Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!
