@ColorApril Don’t do that or any of those electrical tips from foreign countries The YouTube electricians keep us and the fire department busy….

@ColorApril Epic.

@ColorApril You would be amazed how often people do that and then bury it in the wet dirt or under asphalt Sometimes you can see the steam coming from the ground as they burn up.

@ColorApril Wild stuff.

Brought to you by: The Blue Tape Company.

Right.

Shitty. The splice should have been soldered then vulcanized.

Alright.

@DawgRight Buy a tap block and do it correctly 👍

@DawgRight Right.

@DawgRight I come across very old splices similar to this now and then. Back in the day they soldered them together and wrapped them in the cloth electrical tape they had then.

@NobodymrRobert @DawgRight Friction tape. They sell it at home depot. It goes over regular electrical tape.

Splicing tape/friction tape is all good 👍

This is how the Chinese military works.

Really.

solder, shrink wrap, MacGuyVer

There it is.

@SweetTexanRose India.

Power stealing grifters. And they better wear thick gloves.

Ok.

Or you could use a split-bolt. That's exactly what these are made for.

@BIGG69276626 A lot of work for an unacceptable half ass job.

@BIGG69276626 Understand.

I'd say nobody should 😛

Right.

OSHA would not approve…

Right.

Crimping is the safest long term solution. Solder will fail with vibration. If not tighten properly, any loose wires create arcing. Once arcing happens, wires heat up, tape can melt

Great point.!

I wonder...

@MoosesFelix Some solder would be nice

@MoosesFelix Better.

Bad bad bad. A good mechanical connection is essential, and this is a good mechanical connection, BUT it MUST be soldered to make a good electrical connection. That BS will still oxidize eventually, likely making a high resistance connection and can get hot and create fire.

@TheLizVariant Two gauges of wire same circuit? Never.

@HistorianUSA1 The person that did that probably wears sandals.

I see these in 100 y/o homes with knob & tube wiring. Wrapped with friction tape. They are still fine after all that time.

Let's teach him how to do it wrong

@MAGA_X_Times This dude lol.

@lakemonstercl1 Dominion power used to wire their parking lot lights this way. No disconnect or over current protection. Just going to a 400 amp fuse on the pole… All direct burial, so they had a lot of burnouts…

What is a junction box?

This guy needs more blue tape for his splice.

@gracieback2 Is that 3rd world electrical work?

If you are going to do it, that is a good way to do it but that is 3rd world country shit. There is a reason for code books. There is a reason there are fewer electrical fires now than ever. They are correlated.

yeah checked on this and regulations and this seems on par with high voltage lines. to my suprise the pros use the same tape and same methods

The scary thing with electric work is even when it's not hooked up correctly it sometimes still works.!

Not me.

I thought we were about to see a tiny cable splice happen

I've spliced like that for many years. Solder it, it will never fail.

@Blueverse01 Nope

@Blueverse01 Right.

@HistorianUSA1 Anyone who has the tools to take the black coating off the thick wire so nicely, isn't doing this BS job

@gracieback2 Tap rule redefined

Realistically this connection would probably hold up for 50 years but you may have to retape it every 10
