Who gets to decide what development communities want? The communities themselves or NGOs claiming to speak on their behalf? #energy #development

If Cape Independence was to happen, the very same NGO's will sing a different tune and that exploration will suddenly be a good thing for the Cape.

Yep.

We need a development biased government. I reject the idea that all exploration is harmful to the environment. But without a development focused government, the unfounded claims by these NGOs go unchallenged. We have technologies to do this safely, and where we lack we will develop them. The communities are often just coopted in any decisions because no one follows up on consultations. The government is led by people who have their personal needs satisfied by being in government. We need to insert ourselves into these conversations because all the other stakeholders can be bought to sway decisions. Only an ignorant person would trust the courts to decide in their favor. The government as well as the courts have nothing to lose with such decisions, but the ordinary people. Somebody has to take up this battle on their behalf. I'm sorry to say this @Princymthombeni, but you need to make us understand the energy conversation, just as you made us understand the Constitutional Reform agenda.

I fully agree with you. We should never be manipulated to think that there are foreign funded organisations that care about us. I will try to speak more about energy and development.

South Africa, a country governed & controlled by foreign interest funded NGOs.

@mirah_japhta The communities are the ones to decide but must be educated not manipulated

Wow, you raised very strong valid points here. You reminded me that this is just an exploration not yet production. That stuck with me. I am glad that you educate us. Do not be dettered when we ask questions, some of us genuinely want to understand. All that said, i'm with you.

Remember There are NGO whose mandate is to keep us underdeveloped so we are forever dependent on Europe and use willing volunteers as if they represent entire communities

but communities or a community doesn't get to decide on the fate of the entire countries energy and economical security, certain investments can't just be a community thing, such as energy, data, ai, data centers, fuel, water, land and food security, etc these things affect our international economic and state security

Well done! NGO’s are weaponising environmentalism & conservation at a time when the supply of oil is being deliberately tampered with globally. It’s a recipe for disaster if we sitting on oil, not allowed to extract it & imports can’t meet demands or falls outside price norms.

Thank you I support this 100%

Greenpeace is a scam😏

Sister Princy the CIA, Mossad, M16 and others are operating in broad daylight in SA hiding behind NGOs, unfortunately our government is fast asleep they don't even know what's happening in this country, whatever flimsy intelligence we have is only used to spy against political opponents.

What’s the position of @Energy_ZA in this matter, do they have capacity to explore

@Zelda51617813 ...and then there is that Limpopo whatwhat NGO aparently fronted by some foreigner too.

This issue has been going on for years, and while I always support your views on many issues this one I am taking a step back. Just get the detail of the involvement of that community there & u will understand why the community is not happy with that exploration.

But the community members I spoke to were frustrated about this decision.

I know many community members who have been frustrated with the prospect of exploration. As you said in your clip communities may not be in agreement in all aspects. Perhaps find out from them what the source of dessent was and why others would celebreate this ruling.

The department must intervene immediately

This reminds me of Xolobeni case. These companies do not improve the lives of the communities they mine in. With proper consultation, the exploration might go ahead regardless of the enviromental risks. These NGO are likely funded by the companies hoping to benefit.

We just happen to have a weak government & they cannot blame the ConCourt bcaus they drafted the constitution which they can easily amend. Foreign funded NGOs are running this country, there is nothing vetting or regulating them, a national security threat. EC people must March!

I’m from Eastern Cape- what the NGOs do is very frustrating. They get these environmental studies students and use them to preach against mining and explorations. Then Eastern Cape born Xhosa people have to now go be garden boys and kitchen girls in Western Cape where it is allowed to bring in Data Centres with zero fight from NGOs . They die in Cape Town and transported overnight to be buried in EC. We will never develop under the current black courts with these judges we have.

Lol I couldn’t hear a thing or pay any attention.

I really think the problem is getting deeper, so called NGOs have taken over our rights people to decide completely, same like this SASSA Court about R 350 grants, The unemployed need jobs & business opportunities not grants these white NGO claim ,thanks 4 your work MaMthombeni

Communities must decide… NGO’s Serves a Different mandate and mostly not to the utmost interests of the communities… Studies says South Africa has lost of uncovered, untapped minerals and other resources… we could be World Leaders if our government was not captured…

💯 thank you Princy. Let's challenge these foreign funded NGOs and their nefarious Agendas to keep South Africa an extraction colony.

#SouthAfricanContent #SouthAfrica #Let'sTalk #Asikhulume @XolaniGwala SouthAfrica misses you sir.🙏🥺🙏❤️🫂

All explorations must cease. We have a lawless country currently and wealth curse is becoming a problem under this current regime.

@MasiloPaul I’ll retweet while at it

Sis...host communities get reminded continuously to visualize livelihoods beyond mining as the mines are closing. Then they say such can be achieved through mining development. I invite you to look into projects/ values they claim shall empower communities beyond mining 😡😡😡

I dont believe explorations should be led by a foreign entity.

💯
