Afrobeats PhD… Today, I gave a 2 hour lecture on Afrobeats at the School of Law, University of Westminster in London. This is part of my preparation for a doctorate program next year on the study of Afrobeats. I produced the first documentary on Afrobeats on Netflix, and now I am taking it a notch higher in Academia. A Jazzman’s Blues was the first movie I ever wrote. It took me 27 years to make it, and after I finished making the film and released it to the world, I felt a kind of grieving in my spirit. I soon realized that this is what can happen when you hold onto a dream for so long and finally see it come to pass. In all honesty, I wasn’t sure what was next. Of course, I would continue doing what I was known for, but I didn’t have that next thing in my heart—until Ambassador Nicole Avant called me about The Six Triple Eight! I’m so glad she asked me to do this movie. It gave me the excitement and hope I needed to keep moving forward. We can’t wait for you to see The Six Triple Eight! Opening this Friday in select theaters and streaming worldwide on Netflix on December 20th. This one is for EVERYONE!

In the last six months, I have received over 300 direct messages from survivors of abuse thanking me for my message. This video is one of the most difficult I have ever made. It was heavy on my heart for a long time. I truly hoped it would help even one DV or SA survivor. I didn’t expect it to help hundreds. I’m dancing on the grave I once lived in. Um, in 2008 or 9, Netflix changed from sending out little envelopes, I don't know if they did it here in the UK, but there were envelopes with the, uh, disc, the movie on it... Romesh: Yeah. Bryan Cranston: ...and you'd give, and you'd pop it into your DVD player and that's how, and then you'd send it back through the post. They switched from that to streaming. When it went from just a finger, bing, and there it is. And all of a sudden, they had to have these, you know, these tiles up to show, "Oh, this is getting great reviews," "Oh, I heard about that, I've never seen it," and they start watching it, and that's what changed everything. When Netflix went to streaming, we were on it, and it's like skyrocketed. I will always be grateful to Netflix for what they've done. I mean, that was the turning point in the in the house of the success of Breaking Bad.

🚨ORB Captured In Throggs Neck Bronx,NY 6/12/25 at 3:00am "I saw a flash of light through my bedroom window. I began to film it and I knew that it was headed to the main street so I followed it outside of my backyard to the main street and that’s when I got the full video of the orb. This wasn’t a drone as it wasn’t making any noise and it didn’t have a discernible shape . There was a heavy police presence on foot and in the air. I asked the police officer who was on the ground I said hey, are you guys in control of whatever this is and he said no and I immediately took that as let me head back home because Whatever this is could be dangerous or unsafe he didn’t have any answers for me .This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen because my backyard is completely closed off to any street light. Funnily enough, I just said this in a video today. I said Max likely appreciates DOA and Itagaki's work, but isn't a fan of the series. It is on you if you don't understand the definitions of the words being used. If I say I'm not a fan of the series, it doesn't necessarily mean I dislike it.

Right after this documentary, shot entirely in London, he asked me to be his Manager… and the rest, as they say, is HISTORY! That beat the band boys were working on is what they call “skoskola”. A running beat programmed in the keyboard to replicate the little metronome-like talking drum called “omele” that can go on for hours! Not many people know that I am a Fuji “head”. I was in studio with K1 for 5 full albums in 4yrs, I can translate talking drums! In #AfrobeatsTheBackstory Season 2, you will see how we break down the rudiments of the talking drums from Fuji and Apala to what Asake is doing today. There’s no way I’m sleeping in my bed tonight. I’m taping off the doors and crashing on the couch with a makeshift flamethrower next to me. I’m not even afraid of bugs, but what I am afraid of is weird fuckin noises coming from my medicine cabinet and then when I open it, I see nothing. Then when I close it and I walk away, I hear the fuckin sound again, and it literally stops the second I turn around like it fuckin knows. It also stops when I shine a light on it from the doorway, when I get too close to it, and when I fuckin look at it. I’m especially afraid of whatever the fuck is in there because it literally won’t die. I wrote off every item in there and dumped a bottle of Clorox and bee spray in there like I was putting out a fuckin fire. I’m either fuckin hallucinating or there’s some kind of creature in my medicine cabinet that is intentionally fucking with me. Can you hear it? Have I finally gone off the reservation? Oh one final thing, this has been going on for three days I just thought it was my tv making a weird noise but everything in that room is now unplugged. How the hell has it survived 3 days in there??
