I've been doing some similar shenanigans with sideloaded Star Rail on Quest lol.

Been doing that with an Xbox One game controller. Even wrote a python script that relays the button presses back to the in-world object. Granted, my tracker mount for the controller is very janky, despite having a 3D printer.
