I remember watching this when I was younger and boy-howdy is there an entirely NEW perception of her response. I too, am July Sugarbaker.

Sadly dixie carter was nowhere near this liberal in real life. She was a registered republican and libertarian most of her life, but she was supportive of marriage equality in her final years.

The irony is Dixie Carter was a conservative Republican. She made a deal with the producers that for every liberal rant, she will get to sing on the show.

She was aces.

When I think of great readers I think of Julia Sugarbaker and Claire Huxtable. One did it with fire the other with grace.

I never understood why my husband loved that show so much as we never watched it together. God damn, he really had the best taste in the world. I get it.

It's ironic that Dixie was a republican, and had to rattle this speeches in almost every episode, she made a deal with Linda Bloodworth, that she sing in some of the episodes. I've always wondered how much, if any of it, did she actually agree with

She was The Best! I invoke her name almost every day and pride myself on achieving even a smidgen of her fiery rhetoric when the occasion calls for it.
