Probably stupid question, but why don't they reload plane machine guns? Would it be like shooting boar with RPG kind of stuff (too expensive)? Or is there simply no ammo left for these type of guns?

I just wonder if a simple plane like the Pilatus PC12, similar to what was provided to Afghanistan (without the ground attack capability), may help to defend against those drones. Not sure about cost effectiveness, but could provide an additional layer of defense.
