Known locally as an esclafit humit, the event formed when intense summer heat collided with cold rain, catching the area off guard with no active weather warnings. The most severe damage was concentrated along a 500-metre stretch across Sants-Montjuïc in Barcelona and nearby L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
