I had one explode in my microwave a few years ago. I bought it because it was advertised as going from refrigerator to microwave safely. When I opened the door glass went all over the room. It’s a miracle it didn’t put one of my eyes out.

Great insight! Their slogan was "from the freezer to the oven to the table" but I never put it in a hot oven. I will put a frozen dish in the oven and turn it on to let it all heat together. May be why my PYREX has lasted decades.

Corning used quality glass. You could boil water in them even. Corning sold it off and the new company uses soda ash glass. Corning is yellow tinted, new stuff looks like autoglass. Soda ash glass has small bubbles and they cause it to explode

it's been happening forever, take out the glass dish put it on the cold counter or cold glass top, rapid temp change, it explodes. Same if you put a hot glass dish in cold water, it will break/shatter
