Money has always evolved alongside technology. From paper, to electronic ledgers, to digital payment rails, each shift changed how markets operate rather than whether they operate. The IMF's perspective highlights that tokenization is part of this same progression. It brings faster settlement, broader access, and new ways for assets to be represented digitally. But the real transformation happens after assets move onchain. Once tokenized, assets don’t just need to exist. They need to function inside markets. That means settling reliably, interacting with other financial primitives, and doing so in ways that align with institutional requirements around compliance and control. Was very excited about this thoughtful conversation with Jonathan Ehrenfeld, Head of Strategy at Swift. I think it clearly showcases the large benefits of Swift as a private key signing infrastructure, financial standards organization and network for routing key financial messages/information across the capital markets, among many other key services it already provides. It is clear to me that for our industry to go to the next stage, we need to make sure that blockchains become compatible with the existing financial system. Chainlink has a key role to play in making that happen, by simplifying the connectivity of those traditional data, payment and compliance systems into all blockchains, as well as the connectivity of those blockchains between each other. There will continue to be more and more critical data, identity, payment, compliance and other key systems to be integrated into and across blockchains securely, which I feel Chainlink is in a unique position to address in ways no other system can. The White House Digital Asset Summit was an inflection point for the blockchain industry. It is a key step toward accomplishing President Donald J. Trump’s objective of the U.S. becoming the “crypto capital of the world,” which will drive major innovation in the blockchain industry not only in the U.S. but on a global scale. Sergey Nazarov shared his takeaways from the event: • The cryptocurrency and stablecoin markets have reached a sufficient size where they cannot be ignored by governments. For example, stablecoins consist of 2-5% of the U.S. treasuries market by utilizing them as reserves. • The main courses of action in supporting these markets include Bitcoin and digital asset stockpiles; regulations that enable DeFi, Fintech, and TradFi to participate in onchain markets; and making the U.S. the leader in digital asset infrastructure and the number one place where digital assets are created. • For the U.S. to be a leader in crypto, it needs to be the place where base (original) assets are generated, which are then repackaged and sold around the world. Doing so requires creating highly reliable assets that are accessible across all blockchains and embedded with automated compliance. • Chainlink uniquely supports these objectives by allowing various information about assets to be proven (e.g., Proof of Reserve), thereby making them highly reliable. Furthermore, Chainlink can connect tokenized assets to all blockchains via the CCIP standard as well as connect assets and smart contracts to various data points such as identity to automate compliance. The Chainlink standard is ready to make blockchains, smart contracts, and oracle networks the infrastructure powering the global financial system.

Tokenization as Infrastructure, Not a Shortcut In this clip, André Casterman explains why tokenization is best understood as an upgrade to the internet’s financial infrastructure, not a guarantee of liquidity or success. Tokenization does not create demand on its own. Liquidity still matters. What it does change is the efficiency of how value moves. Cheaper settlement. Faster transfer. Native verifiability. Stablecoins are a clear example. Instead of routing payments through correspondent banking and local clearing entities, value can move directly by transferring tokens. The asset does not need to be physically moved or reconciled across jurisdictions. The result is lower cost and less friction. Verifiability is the real unlock. Unlike physical assets, which require costly and invasive processes to prove authenticity, tokenized assets can be verified on-chain, publicly, and without altering the asset itself. At Sibos 2025, key leaders from Swift, DTCC, and Euroclear joined Sergey Nazarov to discuss Phase 2 of the global corporate actions initiative led by Chainlink. In the initiative, Chainlink brought together 24 industry-leading organizations ranging from major financial market infrastructures to banks and asset managers to demonstrate the success of creating Unified Golden Records that standardize and automate corporate actions data. Using the Chainlink platform for orchestration (CRE) and interoperability (CCIP), blockchains as auditable data records, and AI to transform unstructured inputs into structured information, the technical solution was able to produce near 100% data accuracy across all evaluated corporate actions. Confirmed reports were transformed into ISO 20022-compliant messages and transmitted to the Swift Network via CRE, while CCIP distributed reports across DTCC’s blockchain ecosystem and multiple other public and private blockchains. “This is the furthest we’ve ever been in trying to [solve corporate actions], and it’s thanks to the work that Chainlink has done in bringing together the leadership and using your data-savvy approaches to all of that.” — Nadine Chakar, Global Head of DTCC Digital Assets. Institutional investors are being blamed for everything happening in housing right now, but people forget what happened during the financial crisis. When real estate markets were rolling over, institutional capital was one of the only major bids left supporting the market. Without it, things could have been far worse for average Americans. That’s why I don’t like policies designed to push institutions out of housing. It’s government trying to manipulate markets, and history shows that usually ends badly. The flow of pension funds, sovereign wealth, and institutional capital is a foundational part of the economy, and many of the people proposing these bills have never actually lived through a true real estate down cycle.
