Why are the rules different? Nestle gets a notice for high amounts of total phosphorus in its low fat dairy whitener when added phosphorus is within permissible limits, but Indians will not get warned about total free sugars and total fats! Why are we going to get FOPLwarnings only...

The Food industry is lobbying for the Health Star Rating similar to the Nutri Score system. The Consumer Protection groups are asking for the FOPL warnings. The Honourable Supreme Court has directed the FSSAI to get back to the court about the FOPL warnings. Guess why it is not happening??!! The pressure from the Food industry??!! The Front-of-pack label(FOPL) warnings are the simplest and most effective way to help people make better food choices in India. A clear “High in Sugar” or “High in Salt” or "High in Fat" warning takes seconds to understand. No calculations. No nutrition knowledge. Just a simple signal that says, “Think twice.” The problem with systems like Nutri-Score or Health Star Ratings is that they average everything into one score. A product loaded with sugar can still look “healthy” because it has added protein, fiber, or vitamins. That’s where warning labels are different. A sugary breakfast cereal still gets HIGH IN SUGAR, even if fiber and vitamins are added to it. An instant noodle high in sodium still gets HIGH IN SODIUM even if protein and vitamins are added to it. A packaged fruit juice with excessive free sugars still gets HIGH IN SUGAR, though it's directly from the fruit. The unhealthy ingredient isn’t hidden behind a better-looking overall grade when FOPL warnings are used. For a country as diverse as India, warning labels also work across languages and literacy levels. A bold symbol is easier to recognize than interpreting letters, colors, or star ratings. Sometimes, the simplest system is the one people actually use. Please tag Ministry of Health and FSSAI and ask that FOPL warnings are to be implemented with urgency! This is the boomer uncle who Raj Shamani invited to his podcast to talk on medical and health. The guy who said "Ghee" (also called clarified butter) is a fat burner. Ghee is heavy on saturated fats and every single nutrition and cardiology clinical societies recommend limiting saturated fats. See here: American Heart Association Presidential Advisory on Dietary Fats For lack of a better description, protoplasmic masses without neuronal cohesion, like this guy here, Mr. Prashant Desai, who has absolutely no training in medical and healthcare, who flaunts toilet paper value nutrition certificates for his video background and without an ounce of scientific temper, talking absolute rubbish on nutrition and diet are the ones the public must stay away from. Look at this video. Nutrition and diet specialist Prashant Desai is holding up a bottle of alcohol and claiming that is causes "non-alcoholic" fatty liver. I mean it is like trying to convince the public by holding up a cat and saying its a dog. Basic IQ anyone? Mr. Desai further says non-alcoholic fatty liver never existed in children before 1980. This is absolutely wrong. Fatty liver had been identified in overfed children as early as 1849. His claim that fruit juice is the same as alcohol is also nonsense. He has no actual idea how nutrient metabolism works. Metabolism of alcohol and that of fruit juice (fructose) is completely different. High fructose intake is associated with increased risk of fatty liver disease. Even fresh fruits have fructose in them. The added sugars cause more harm than the natural sugars in your recommended daily portion of fruits/ fruit juices. See here: Alcohol metabolism and fatty liver: Fructose metabolism and fatty liver: Listen to certified clinical nutritionists and doctors. Reject fearmongering nutritional quacks like these. Their narratives harm the public health.

A real scientific study onto Coca-Cola found that Mexican Coke is a lie. It showed there is no real cane sugar “In 2010, a group of legit scientists get together to do a legitimate experiment for a legitimate science journal, and they want to test soft drinks including Coca-Cola. They want to know what sorts of sweetener are being used for each and how much of that sweetener is in each of them. So they gather a bunch of soft drinks including a Mexican Coca-Cola and an American Coca-Cola, and do all of their testing. What they find is that the Mexican Coca-Cola actually has no sucrose in it, meaning sugar. All they find in this is glucose and fructose, the elements that are used to build high fructose corn syrup. — They found no sugar. They only found the elements for high fructose corn syrup” Okay this sounds really crazy, so I looked into what’s actually happening Coke is highly acidic with phosphoric acid. Sucrose, which is cane sugar, hydrolyzes (breaks down) very quickly in acidic conditions into glucose + fructose By the time the bottle reaches you, especially after shipping, storage, and sitting on shelves, most or all of the sucrose has already inverted That’s why the study found almost zero intact sucrose Recent lab tests confirmed Mexican Coke starts with cane sugar but ends up with ~97% inverted by the time it’s tested So you are literally paying more for nothing So it’s technically not a lie, but it’s also incredibly misleading too
