Why BW are obsessed with having sons:

Mothers chase the illusion of raising a young boy to be better than his father. A doomed endeavor, because the entire society, the establishment is against it. This boy gets messages from the media from toddlerhood and that only increases with more exposure to societal influences

Yall weird. My automatic thought was the fear of replicating the relationships they had w their own mother. Many black women have endured emotional/mental abuse from their mothers. Mother daughter relationships are extremely tough

Many mothers don’t realize that it’s often their daughters who will care for them as they age. Sons, more often than not, don’t take on that role. Historically and culturally, daughters have been the ones to maintain family bonds and lineage. Men, by design, are protectors and companions, it’s usually the women who carry the emotional and generational weight.

I wanted a daughter bad and got one she coming in less than 30 days. My mom always said “she wish she only had sons” or “girls are so hard” I don’t think girls are harder I just think older women are emotionally unavailable and lowkey very internally misogynistic..

It’s really because they don’t want to raise themselves. They knew a lot of things they did when they were younger they wouldn’t want to see repeated or have to deal with in a daughter. The only reason not to want a daughter is because of your own experiences as a woman or seeing how other women have been treated in this world/ the benefit to having a son over a daughter in terms of utility.
