on AI eroding trust and humanity

if you wanna see my conversations on AI, you can find the vods here

That's really beautifully said. Thanks! A civilization without strong art is like a tree with a rotting trunk. It can still stand for a while. Until the parasites finish the job.

Yup, I really don't understand how perfectly adjusted to my preferences content is a good thing. Basically death of discussion over these things.

True. The amount of AI videos on X & Co. who just fish for attention, reactions and views is astonishing. People try to automate money making through it. Really hope people are getting fed up with it soon and it will be the end of social media. This is meaningless.

Said to someone who dislikes the taste of pickles: "why can you not just enjoy pickles?"

I just can't believe "AI enjoyers" because every time I glance at an AI generated stuff it disgusts me not just emotionally but like viscerally disgusting and nauseating

Well said

This is super well said, finally an argument that isn't trying to belittle AIs capability to produce human looking art, but rather what the implications of achieving that future brings with it.

"AI art" is not even a thing. Art is ARTisanship and emotional expression. Computers can't do that. By definition it must be made by a person. Also ppl enjoy Art for the artists. AI "art" is empty. There's no one to admire for the singing, or acting, writing, level design...

❤️

Well said! I don't think our brains are really wired to be able to handle art devoid of human intentionality, similar to how people keep erroneously anthropomorphizing LLMs. Also, IMO you should adjust your camera framing; too much headroom.

Freya

Freya, I agree that AI slop may not be good if consumed too much, but I saw some artists created slop even before AI, just with lower throughput. So to be consistent you need to ban those artists too? Also do you mean that some people cannot make decisions about their lives? I used to see any regulation as harmful and leading to protected market positions. And one more: you are opposing just AI art, but there are a lot of application in real life, raising a productivity tremendously. For example just to create illustrations for a book or an article, which do not need to be graded as art.
