The cartel was maintained by state granted parents and licensing requirements. In short a competitor couldn't enter the market with better bulbs, because the cartel would utilise the STATE, not markets, to threaten licensing withdrawals for their state granted monopoly.

When i find some money, im buying NOTHING. Ima buy solar panels, blankets, electric stoves, E-bike instead of a car, special showerheads that spray water at you to save 90% on water, everything. NO ONE deserves my money. Humanity SUCKS, yall are GREEDY. FUCK YOU.

i''m disappointed Zack

My LED lightbulbs never last as long as what the boxes they came in say

Not so secret now since ya said this

Capitalism.

Planned obsolescence is real, but the Phoebus cartel mainly standardized sockets and prices, not a secret bulb-killer. The 1,000-hour rating was a compromise, not a conspiracy. What evidence would actually convince you the cartel shortened lifespans on purpose?

I guess it's ain't secret no more

the thing is that the tungsten wire inside the bulb needs to basically burn to produce light and at some point the light would begin to fade, the glass would warp from constant heating and cooling and the metal inside would oxidise

same goes for electric cars, they're made to generate money not to "solve" the fossil fuel problem or the gas emissions yada yada

I WILL believe they really are fighting climate change first second when they mandate long lasting bulbs and unbreakable glass, but that aint happen

This is the history of Enshittification.

Well now that we know this it ain't so secret anymore is it

The bulbs in my house have been working since the 60's.

This is happening with more than just lightbulbs lol

I wonder if china or another company can make long lasting bulbs only to import them over to the US

Now we have LED lights 😂

Conspiracy theory 101

well know a days people leave the lights off to save energy and just switch to rechargeables

Hmmm

Wtf
