(Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation) is initiating a landmark pilot to convert traditional shares and U.S. Treasuries into digital tokens, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The clearinghouse is coordinating with 40 financial institutions, including J.P. Morgan, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, and Vanguard, to test the settlement and storage of tokenized assets on a unified blockchain ledger. This trial represents a fundamental upgrade to market infrastructure, allowing the NYSE 🏛 and other participants to trade tokenized versions of assets already held at the DTCC.
