In 2012, when Hillary Clinton and our state department was lying to our faces about what Assad was doing and why, Putin and Russia were backing Assad. Saying that if Assad fell, Syria could fall into a perpetual civil war, and that they didn’t believe the reports of Assad using “chemical weapons.” Fast forward to now where Syria is a mess and the only country that benefited from Assads fall was Israel. In the end, I just want to say that Bashar al-Assad was a monster. He was a doctor, and doctors are meant to be saviors, people with kind souls who are chosen to heal and protect. But Assad turned out to be the biggest disappointment. What he did to his own people was not just cruel, it was inhuman. You don’t treat enemies the way he treated his own nation, the very people he was supposed to protect. May Allah’s wrath be upon you, Assad. It will take months, if not longer, to forget what I have witnessed in the past two days. The atrocities committed under his rule are unimaginable. This contradicts Iran’s claim that Assad refused to ask for help Hakan Fidan: Turkey convinced Russia and Iran not to provide military support to Assad. Our meetings in Ankara and Doha were devoted to this issue. Negotiations were held, and that night he received a phone call, after which Assad left. If the Syrian regime had received support, things could have ended very bloodily. The Russians and Iranians realized that continuing this no longer made sense.

He was even invited to Syria by the Assad regime to do propaganda for it. He made tweets mocking hospitals being bombed in Aleppo. Also in 2016, when Aleppo was being starved and carpet bombed by Assad he went to a university demonstration full of Syrians protesting against this and held up a picture of Assad to terrorize the Syrian students.

Since Assad was overthrown, Edy was vocal and called out the massacres committed against the Alawites and the Druze. Many Syrians turned against him. However, Edy remained true to his position: the same way he condemned what Assad did to his people, he refuses to turn the blind eye to what the new leadership committed or allowed in the past five months.
