Why did they stop making cartoons like this

We used to watch this cartoon when we were kids, we will grow up, we will grow old but this cartoon will remain evergreen forever.

Because they wanted to indoctrinate kids instead.

Violent content filled with nonstop brutality from start to finish, inflicted on animals, humans, and everything in between.

According to backwards elites: They'd call it toxic masculinity. The girl would be Way too feminine. Popeye wouldn't be allowed to exist because apparently guys can't be heros any more. And this storyline would somehow be exploiting third world ppl and tied to colonialism. 🙄

Because studios traded soul and creativity for algorithms and safe content. Back then they made classics now they make “content.”

Hollywood used to base cartoons on absurd and funny takes on human and animal nature, while playing beautiful instrumental background music. They were silly and obviously not real life. At some point it was decided this would cause kids to be violent. So now, they produce cartoons with rainbow theology, creepy horror movies for teens and rap music for all. In addition, today’s schools push self-destructive ideology, all in the name of acceptance and equality. There are parental controls on media, but let’s be realistic…. today’s children are not allowed to be children.

In 1990, Congress passed the Children’s Television Act, which pushed broadcasters to air a minimum amount of “educational and informational” programming and limited advertising during kids’ shows. Networks reacted by cutting back on older, more violent slapstick cartoons and replacing them with tamer, more explicitly educational content, especially on Saturday mornings. They slowly disappeared and were replaced by cheaper, safer children’s shows.

Classic cartoons are way too violent for today's parents. They prefer their children watch cartoons where everything is just an easily resolved misunderstanding and the graphics are ugly, with no artistry. Boring schlock!

Political correctness is one of the reasons why. Same thing with comedy.

Cuz people are stupid now? And labels like, " Don't try this at home" don't work anymore? Just a thought.

China has the similar problems. Most of our animation is not as great as the previous ones

They don’t make spinach like that anymore! Now they have Moringa! They will never replace Popeyes marketing strategy that made kids want to eat their spinach! The creative artistry is another matter! RIP Stan Lee, Walt Disney, Looney Tunes Group! We miss you!

These cartoons were way better than the ones they make now

The old Popeye cartoons are hilarious when you actually listen to the stuff they’re muttering. It was all pretty much over my head when I was little.

Lack of imagination and talent is my guess for why they stopped making cartoons like Popeye. It's the same reason we have so many movie remakes instead of originals.

This is by far the worst Popey I ever watched. Probably one of the latest.

Sometimes it’s not that the art disappeared it evolved. And nostalgia fills in the rest.

I totally get it — that atmosphere is actually impossible to recreate with today’s technology. The subtle “trembling” of hand-drawn animation carries a kind of human warmth right through the screen.
