He was already president. Tomb of the unknown soldier yesterday. But keep asking questions love it. And you will find out!

Even if he was already president, the swearing-in ceremony is symbolic and meaningful, reaffirming the oath of office. The Bible has been central to that tradition. It’s a fair question to ask why the Bible wasn’t touched—traditions matter in preserving the integrity of such events. Clarity helps avoid unnecessary speculation.

Because swearing on the bible is an insult to Jesus Christ who asked us not to swear any oaths.

The Bible is clearly present during the ceremony, even if he isn’t touching it. If swearing on the Bible is considered unbiblical, then the presence of the Bible itself would also be an issue. Additionally, raising his right hand while taking an oath is still a formal act of swearing, which contradicts the argument that avoiding contact with the Bible adheres to Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5:34-37. This seems more like a symbolic choice than a theological one.

Why post this?

I posted this because symbolism and traditions matter, especially in moments as significant as this. It raises a valid question about why a longstanding tradition wasn’t fully observed. Open discussion helps us better understand the choices being made.
