Local councils aren’t foreign embassies. You pay your council tax for your bins to be emptied and potholes to be filled, not to fund performative piety. Plastering foreign flags across British public buildings is just plain stupid. Reform UK councils are taking them down. We fly the Union flag. We serve our residents. Support Ukraine? Yes. But that doesn’t mean their flag needs to fly here.

🚨 Do you expect your councillor to actually live in the area they represent? Because in Tower Hamlets Council, we have councillors living around 5,000 miles away. Actively campaigning to be MPs, not for Tower Hamlets, not even for the UK, but for Bangladesh. And yes, they’re still being paid their £20,000 councillor salary while doing it. That’s the equivalent of a very comfortable six-figure income in Bangladesh, paid for by local taxpayers here. It gets worse. The councillor in question is meant to be responsible for scrutiny. Well she isn’t scrutinising much from Bangladesh is she?! And then people act surprised when this council is drowning in scandal: ❌ Finances don’t add up ❌ Contracts that don’t exist ❌ Procurement rules being bypassed These people genuinely do not care about local residents. I don’t particularly like politics. I don’t really like politicians. And I don’t particularly like political parties… …But I’m coming to the conclusion that if I don’t fix this, no one will.

She is fierce, born and raised in the UK, patriotic and loyal to the 🇬🇧UK👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 It should not come to a surprise that reform made this decisions. Reform have made it clear on numerous occasions they do not want to be a “Right wing” party but want to be a centrist party. It’s time people begin to accept that.
