First of its kind? New feature in Ghostty: a web-inspector-style "terminal inspector" targeted at CLI, TUI developers. Similar to Firebug with Firefox, I'm hoping this helps usher in a new era of develop-ability for terminal applications by making it much much easier to understand what is going on. When the inspector is not in use, there is no perceivable performance impact (benchmarks show the same). When the inspector is in use, the terminal it is inspecting slows down to about half speed due to the overhead. But this only impacts the terminal being inspected. This is a really early version of the inspector. The data organization is kind of messy, its mostly read-only information right now, and there is a lot more information I want to surface. The next step is making a lot of this data read-write so you can actually modify the terminal live (similar to modifying HTML/CSS live in a web inspector) to trial-and-error some changes. Libghostty can now be used to fuzz TUIs, thanks to Oskar Wickström + Antithesis. They already found bugs in multiple including btop. I always imagined libghostty would be useful for testing TUIs, super happy to see this is both practical and valuable. This is another example of where speed matters! "Why does Ghostty need to be so fast?" Well, if you're running hundreds or thousands of unit tests that each use a clean in-memory terminal, you want that to be fast. If you're fuzz testing and trying to push an unlimited amount of data through a terminal, you want that terminal to be fast. So many people got hung up on "why does my terminal _GUI_ need to be fast" without connecting one more dot and realizing the GUI is only fast if the core is fast, and the core being fast unlocks a hell of a lot more. Like this.

I replaced Claude Code’s default --worktree command with a custom one built around Ghostty, Lazygit, and Yazi. By default, Claude Code creates worktrees inside the .claude/worktrees folder within the same project. That means if you spin up 3 worktrees, you end up with 3 complete copies of your project nested inside your main project. It makes the project structure messy and difficult to manage. So I built a hook that: - Overrides the default --worktree command - Creates each branch in a sibling directory: ../worktrees/branch-name - Automatically opens Ghostty panes - Launches Lazygit and Yazi already positioned in the correct branch directory Install it with: npx claude-code-templates@latest --hook=development-tools/worktree-ghostty --yes Now each branch lives where it should, outside the main project, and your terminal environment is ready instantly.

In this simple example, we show that Claude Code can read the iMessage database on the latest version of macOS, even with a leading EDR running on the system, illustrating the impact of an adversary who can remotely control the agent. We do this using Terminator, an internal research tool we built while studying the security implications of computer use agents. In this setup, the terminal application has previously been granted FDA, a subtle misconfiguration that effectively gives the agent access to unexpected context.

There is a strategy for Claude Max users that will 3-5X productivity and vibe coding learning curve. Which most vibe coders don't utilize! Most people using Claude Code just sit and watch the terminal while their prompt cooks. That’s dead time. If you’re on Claude Max, you’re paying for parallel capacity you’re probably not using fully. And tokens get wasted. Here’s a methodology to fix that and boost the way you use Claude forever: The Setup & Workflow 1. Add the repos you’re actively working on to your workspace from your IDE 2. Click “new terminal” and open 3-4 terminal instances, each pointed at a different project 3. Toggle between them on the right side of your terminal panel 4. When one terminal is cooking a prompt, look at the others 5. Use the time Claude is working to prompt the next project 6. Continuously rotate and ship across 3-4 projects like this 7. Use your tokens effectively, build more, learn faster The Result You ship 3-4 projects simultaneously. You burn through your token allocation on actual output instead of letting it sit unused. You learn faster because you’re getting more reps in the same amount of time, too. As long as you work on different projects at the same time like this, it will only be a boost in productivity, with no chance for code to get spaghetti. Have you ever wanted your terminal to look like an authentic CRT? Of course you have. Well, LOOK NO FURTHER because the future (or is it the past?) is now. And people ask why you'd ever need a GPU-rendered terminal.... HAH! My yak has no more hair to shave. This demo is crazier than it seems: you can actually specify any custom shader, and the shader API is compatible with ShaderToy, so you can take any off-the-shelf shader from ShaderToy and this works. The tech behind this is super over the top. Ghostty is cross-platform and uses Metal directly on macOS and OpenGL on Linux. Metal and OpenGL use different shading languages. No problem! You specify the custom shader in GLSL (OpenGL language) and it’s automatically translated to SPIR-V (binary IR) then automatically translated to MSL (Metal language). That all happens at runtime because why not. Yeah but this has to kill your battery right? Nope! <1% CPU and <1% GPU because computers are fast (especially when you're working at a relatively low level).

🚨 Random stabbing at Union Station bus terminal last night (1/18/26) Just before 10 PM, a woman was stabbed multiple times in the leg & chest by suspect Nakila Marie Green, 37, in an apparently unprovoked attack at the Union Station bus terminal. Green was arrested on scene by Denver Police Dept. on first-degree assault charges after RTD police intervened.
