You can pop out any pane in the Claude Code desktop app into its own window. Drag the diff or terminal to a second screen while Claude keeps working in the main window, then dock it back whenever you want. You can also run sessions side-by-side or stacked.

You guys have mythos 2 , 3 or the whatever model crazy enough to wipe out the civilization, and we still have to review verify and reverify before merging , can we use those models to fix that first please?

couldn't they have done such simple things earlier , managing multiple tabs in the ide was such a pain so vs code was the default for calude code. openai codex needs to learn a thing or two about DevX

Small feature but it's the one that actually changes the workflow, popping out the diff means you stop context switching between what Claude did and what you're reviewing.

Unfortunately, the Background Tasks window does not display transcripts or live transcripts properly if you do this, very frustrating if you're running multiple projects. Please fix this!

pop-out is useful if the second window is the same session. does the detached diff keep file watchers and the terminal scrollback, or is it a frozen snapshot until you dock it back?

Diff on the second screen is the one I wanted tbh. Following what the agent changes while it keeps running in the same window was getting messy. Does the popped out pane survive a restart?

i'd probably put the terminal on the second screen & keep glancing over while answering messages. less deliberate multitasking, more checking that nothing looks on fire.

That’s a really useful update. It’s like having a mini Claude workspace where you can keep multiple chats open side by side instead of constantly switching between them. Makes managing multiple sessions much easier.

The useful bit is keeping the diff visible without stealing the agent’s context. I’d pin a session ID to each pane so parallel runs never cross-wire review.

Claude Code just gave devs the ability to detach windows. That's not a feature, that's an API wrapper in waiting. soon you'll be chaining models without leaving your IDE and wondering why OpenAI is still charging $3/million tokens for what costs pennies on-prem at home
