I remember watching ads on TV as a child trying to guilt me into feeling bad that a little girl had to walk 47 hours a day to get water and that's why people had to give them money. Even as a child I remember thinking to myself, why don't you just move to where the water is?!

I was having this discussion with other people. I was framing it as part of their culture and the inheritance of it. I actually said that you won't be able to change them, No even if you heavily repress them and force them. Additionally, the mentality that just described, set them Into a position of slavery, If you only pays them small daily waves they will come the next day, and also you need to supervises them or the job won't be done.
