Because not everyone has 6 ft wide landings?
Nobody with small children would be able to do that because the small ones would be climbing on it and then falling ass over tea kettle down the stairs b
Most upstairs “hallways aren’t wide enough. That 2 feet is normally used to make the bedrooms larger which allows for additional closet space. The architect was terrible.
Gee. Maybe it's because not everyone can afford to give up the floor space for some cheap fucking cabinets they don't need in the room.
Well, first you would need to have the space around your stairs to do this. And own all the tools. And need the storage space. And last, he needs to fence off the top of the cabinets so nobody falls over into the stairwell.
Because that is NOT the stairs, you are stealing the hallway, and calling it the stairs.

Anyone smart enough would build like another 50cm height wall behind that 2 stop thing from falling. That 5cm ledge isn’t good or safe enough, sorry😑also not only it doesnt look good, it actually not great air flow (up top is always hotter) between the 2 lvls especially w. This.

If you live in a small space would be a good idea! That would look like crap if you have a larger home with a foyer and/or grand staircase. Totally depends on space requirements
