ARE 1 ON 0 WORKOUTS THE BEST WAY TO TRAIN? I moved away from 1 on 0 workouts a long time ago. They are great if the player has a specific technical need. It allows you to slow down and dive deep with the player. Other than that… multi player workouts are exponentially more productive and beneficial for the players. This allows them to still work on technical skill, but it allows you to put them in an environment where they have to read multiple players on the court- exactly how the game will be. Add in the fact that it forces players to compete and it’s a no brainer!

These are the players that say the healing is too low. The ones saying the latest Strategist release is too weak. THESE are type of players that ask for buffs because they have no idea how to play-make. Strat players are legit 75% of why the game is constantly unbalanced.

COMMON DENOMINATOR OF GOOD OFFENSES There are many different ways to play offense… Fast,Slow, 5 Out, 4 out 1 in, continuity, run a million sets, etc. Based on personnel and philosophy, the system you put in might differ. But the common denominator between the best offensive teams is that they get High Quality shots. Layups, Free Throws, Catch n Shoot 3’s, etc. Wouldn’t it then make sense that when putting your system together, the most important part is the players having clarity on the type of shots you value most and the spacing/principles we need to get them?

THE ANSWER TO ADAM SILVER.. Basketball is a simple game… the teams that dominate SIMPLE, have the most success. What Europe does extremely well for their players, is give them a SOLID FOUNDATION of understanding team basketball, give them freedom to build their Individual Skill, and make every game Meaningful Something. That Foundation is simple to teach, we don’t do a good job of it in America. In top of that, when players don’t do the little things, we don’t hold them accountable to them. When the best ones get to the next level where their talent/skill is even, they can’t get on the floor or impact winning bc of this. By sheer numbers we’ll always have Size/Speed/Athleticism and Skill to choose from. Build these players with Stronger TEAM FOUNDATIONS, hold them accountable to it, and you’ll build AMERICAN BASKETBALL. P.S. the reason this probably won’t happen is the same reason why people won’t watch this full 1:30 video… its boring

I Wouldn’t Have signed up to This When I Was Younger 🤯 If you would have offered me help with my mindset I would have told you that I didn’t need any help as my mindset was good. It’s only since I’ve got older that I’ve realised that it’s something that needs constant work. I’ve also noticed the difference between the players who work on it and the ones that don’t. Max Levchin explains why B-players hire C-players The co-founder of PayPal and Affirm reflects on the famous Steve Jobs insight that A-players hire A-players, and B-players hire C-players: “It’s profoundly true. But there should be an asterisk explaining why this is true. And the reason for this is fear.” A-players love working with other A-players because they know it will make them better. They want other A-players who challenge them and will tell them when their work isn’t good. Most B-players are net positive too, but as Max argues, some are fearful and will say: “If I have too many B-players or A-players around, I will look terrible and it’ll be very obvious that I’m just not that good. So the way to fix this is for me to become a manager and hire a bunch of people who aren’t very good at all so that I’ll look like the tallest mushroom.” Max continues: “That is the real danger of B-players. Having people who are perfectly willing to do good work day-in and day-out is not the worst thing in the world. There’s plenty of things that A-players will turn their nose from because it’s just not that challenging. B-players are very good for that [type of work]. And a lot of B-players will over time grind their way to being A-players, so you’re investing in their future and they know it, and that’s also positive. Everything and everyone matters when you’re pursuing greatness and trying to get the most out of players on a team. We are fortunate to have the coaching staff we have. The coaches put in 2-3x the work in preparation as players. I appreciate Coach Tim Walton putting the effort into these moments to create more connection with the young guys. These moments are why these young guys go out and go all out for him. There’s lots that goes into running a team. You need all coaches and players moving in the right direction. All coaches have different styles and techniques to create connection. It’s cool that this is one of them. Ohio State Football

How can players make a big jump next year?!?! For High School and College players… they all put in work with their coaches. Most of them have a trainer they see to put in work. So what is the separator? 1. Are you working on the right things with your coaches that are going to help you be a better player working your team and overall 2. HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU PUT IN THE GYM ON YOUR OWN. This is a HUGE SEPARATOR because this time isn’t dependent on anyone and is unlimited in how much you do. Almost every player I’ve worked with that has made a BIG JUMP has put in extra time on their own. It’s not only because of the work, but it also helps players understand their game better and gives them a bigger investment in their development. As a player you should assess that part of your development today!

ELON: THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STICK TO BEING THE REFEREE “The government's role is to ensure that the playing field is a good playing field. That there are good rules. The government is essentially the referee, making sure that there's fair play, that the rules are sensible, and allowing the players on the field to play the game. And what happens over time is that the government keeps growing, and at a certain point, you have more referees than players on the field. Then, the game is not good. I'm not saying you don't need referees, but you don't want the referees to outnumber the players. That would be silly, but that's often what happens. So, just make sure that fair games are being played, that there are sensible rules, and don't get in the way of the players. How does a KJ Rumble sound? 40 players Draw names out the hat for what order each players will play in the tournament Winner stays on until the last player wins? I can flesh out the ideas properly but I will send a proper message soon about all the rules etc and how to enter!

TOO MUCH INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS My dad, who was a HS Coach for 30 years has been saying this for a while… there are so many Camps, Workouts, Teams for players have go to in the Off Season and many of them try to teach these advanced concepts which sound great on paper, but most players that age need to lock in in doing the simple things really well. That is what is going to give them the best chance for success. Then as they build a strong foundation, you slowly add these advanced concepts while maintaining that foundation that was built.

RECRUITMENT OF HS PLAYERS I always find it necessary to inform players and parents on the changing landscape of College Basketball and recruiting. There are layers to everything, Rick Pitino coming out the other day and saying they aren’t recruiting any hs players this year is significant bc it signifies a change in the landscape. Does that mean no HS players are being recruited, no… but when change happens at the top, there probably needs to be some change that happens below it. So HS players and parents really need to lock in and look how they are spending their time and money, as well as think seriously about what the new path to and of college basketball looks like!

Patrick Surtain is the best CB in the NFL and AJ Brown beat him in the 1st half. But then the Broncos went to a lot more zone coverage and Brown was blanked (except for 1 more slant against man coverage). Players beat man and scheme beats zone. The Eagles have the players. They don't have the scheme. Again, I have no idea why any team would play any defensive snap that wasn't a 4-man rush with zone coverage behind until the Eagles figure out how to beat it.
