Why exercise order matters: – Do power and strength work first, before any cardio or accessory lifts – Never train to failure before these sets, fatigue makes you practice moving slower – These movements are the most neurologically demanding in your session – Coordination at max speed requires a... show more

@hubermanlab if you’re going to make claims on twitter like this, perhaps list the literature which backs this up - otherwise its just another dude’s opinion….be better

I prefer walking in the morning and weight training in the evening, then cardio on off days.

I don’t care what you say. Hard cardio first. I’m pumped and ready to go. Every other lift is easy in comparison. I don’t care what you say.

Great point!

LOL matters for what

Good point. I’d add that breathing shouldn’t be reduced to “belly versus chest.” Efficient breathing involves coordinated diaphragm descent and three-dimensional expansion of the lower rib cage, including the sides and back, while avoiding unnecessary neck and shoulder tension. Like movement, breathing should also adapt to posture, activity and demand.

I’ve worried about this sort of detail before and then looked at the week and realised the bigger problem was getting both types of training done at all. If order matters for a specific goal, fine. Otherwise I’d put the thing I care about most first and move on.

Counterpoint: always training fresh means you never practice force production under fatigue, which is often where real-world strength matters. When do you intentionally train tired?
