How a gubernatorial primaries was held in Osun State without Adeleke’s men being onground shows a shocking lack of capacity that needs to be addressed before the next election - Adeleke should stop trying to be friends with those who have secretly declared war against him. Tinubu is not a friend of the Govt of Osun and if the withholding of LGA funds have not shown this yet then the arsenal to be deployed against him in the next election will prove it. A dynasty can survive in exile and historical dynasties have even survived wholesale regicide as long as one blood heir survives - dynasties do not perish in warfare, they perish by assimilation, marriages with strange families until the bloodline is diluted. With APC coming with federal might, best bet for Adeleke would be to make major concessions and align with ADC, too many betrayers even in PDP and this tactic of leaving the structure behind is already proving faulty - carry everyone who is loyal to you and merge into ADC, entangle PDP in court and give us a straight popularity contest between APC and ADC as a precursor to the national battle to come. A situation of an ADC candidate, a PDP candidate and an Adeleke on a fresh platform with APC federal might may prove insurmountable; 2023 has taught us that only a united opposition force can defeat the powermongers of Abuja. Nurudeen Alowonle, an appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke and Chairman of the Osun State Park Management, was arrested for being in possession of a service pistol and ammunition. Following the arrest, Governor Adeleke petitioned the then Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to transfer the officer that made the arrest, CSP Moses Lohor out of Osun State. That was how the case was swept under the carpet. Since that time, Nurudeen Alawonle has been linked to series of political attacks against Osun APC members. I reiterated that the activities of the Tinubu-led APC administration poses the greatest risk to our democracy since the return of democratic governance. This interview happened in August 2025 shortly after Mark and co completed a hostile takeover of the ADC. This man is Hon. Leke Abejide. He is an unapologetic supporter of Tinubu. Do not be deceived by his ant voice, he is a billionaire and was the first person to win a national assembly seat back to back using ADC. He did it in 2019, defeating APC, PDP and other parties to win the 2019 Yagba Federal Constituency election in Kogi State. He repeated it in 2023. So, he's no push over. By virtue of that he became ADC National Leader. Unfortunately, the first thing the coalition people did after their takeover of ADC was to suspend this man using Dino Melaye. Today, I officially announced my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and formally declared my membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a party I founded and whose leadership has appointed me as its National Leader. The journey of the NDC has been long in the making, and I helped midwife the process that led to its creation. In making the decision to go with the NDC, I made it clear that Nigeria must never become a one-party state. It would have been easy for me to join the bandwagon of politicians decamping to the ruling party—the APC, but that was never an option for me. My decision is informed by a number of reasons: the APC’s abuse and disrespect of the country’s diversity, its inability to effectively manage national security, and its failure to manage the economy in a manner that protects the welfare of Nigerians, resulting in widespread hunger, poverty, and disillusionment. This is further compounded by the mismanagement of our democratic space and the rejection of electoral reforms, leaving democratic liberties under threat after twelve years in power. My decision to set up the NDC has been a painful one because of the PDP’s contribution to me, the people of Bayelsa and all Nigerians, but the reality is that we must move forward. By my nature and background, I am not a politician of convenience but one guided by conviction, principles, and values. The Nigeria Democratic Congress is a national platform for patriots committed to building a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Nigeria. Our priorities begin with national security, ensuring the protection of lives and property through strengthened defence and security institutions; education and skills development to build human capacity and drive national progress; affordable and quality healthcare for all Nigerians; a free-market economy guided by responsible regulation and social protection; industrialisation and local production to reduce dependence on imports; modernised agriculture and food security across the value chain; empowerment and inclusion of women and youth in governance and development; true federalism and devolution of powers to strengthen states and local governments; environmental protection and remediation of degraded areas; provision of affordable housing and modern towns; Pan-Africanist foreign policy and economic diplomacy; preservation and promotion of Nigeria’s culture and heritage; expansion of national infrastructure and transportation networks; reliable and sustainable power and energy supply; reform of the public service to ensure efficiency and accountability; and large-scale employment creation across sectors to provide opportunities for all Nigerians. The NDC will promote an independent judiciary, a free and independent press and ensure the promotion and protection of democratic norms and adherence to the rule of law. It is for these reasons that I have chosen to align fully with the NDC as we work together to build a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive Nigeria. I also explained why I could not align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). I thank the ADC leaders for not succumbing to the pressures of a one-party state, however I am yet to clearly understand their position on some of the fundamental issues and principles that I strongly stand for and believe in. Furthermore, I am not sure if the ADC is a coalition or a collision, but I hope they prove me wrong. ADC leaders are personally known to me; we interact and will continue to do so in furtherance of Nigeria’s democracy. I therefore call on all our people, and indeed all Nigerians who believe in justice, equity, and a new Nigeria, to join this movement. The NDC is a platform for all who are committed to building a nation founded on true federalism, responsible leadership, and shared prosperity for all our people. Today, I officially announced my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and formally declared my membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a party I founded and whose leadership has appointed me as its National Leader. The journey of the NDC has been long in the making, and I helped midwife the process that led to its creation. In making the decision to go with the NDC, I made it clear that Nigeria must never become a one-party state. It would have been easy for me to join the bandwagon of politicians decamping to the ruling party—the APC, but that was never an option for me. My decision is informed by a number of reasons: the APC’s abuse and disrespect of the country’s diversity, its inability to effectively manage national security, and its failure to manage the economy in a manner that protects the welfare of Nigerians, resulting in widespread hunger, poverty, and disillusionment. This is further compounded by the mismanagement of our democratic space and the rejection of electoral reforms, leaving democratic liberties under threat after twelve years in power. My decision to set up the NDC has been a painful one because of the PDP’s contribution to me, the people of Bayelsa and all Nigerians, but the reality is that we must move forward. By my nature and background, I am not a politician of convenience but one guided by conviction, principles, and values. BREAKING NEWS: Police Raids Accord Senatorial Candidate for Osun East, Hon. IBK’s House at Osogbo and Ilesa on Fadahunsi's Order Tension heightened in Osun State on Wednesday after operatives of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) from Abuja reportedly stormed the Osogbo and Ilesa residences of the Accord Party's Osun East Senatorial candidate, Hon. Ibukun Ishola Fadipe (IBK). According to party sources, the operation was allegedly carried out on the instructions of Senator Francis Fadahunsi in an attempt to arrest the Accord candidate and intimidate him ahead of the election. The development comes days after Governor Ademola Adeleke called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop what he described as persecution, selective arrests, intimidation and violence against Accord members and supporters, warning against alleged plans to manipulate the forthcoming election. Reacting to the raid, Accord maintained that no amount of intimidation or harassment would change the resolve of the people, insisting that the alleged police action would not stop the party's support across Osun State. As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not issued any official statement on the operation or responded to the allegations.
