the interface wasn't why they won. every search engine had the same box. google won on result quality, chatgpt on the model. the box stayed simple because the thing behind it got good. voice is simpler to speak and worse to scan. text you skim and set your own pace.

Voice is hard to get right, things get lost in translation, user intent is sometimes only half baked in, it's not a clear cut input mechanism compared to static UI where we direct the intention, with voice due to it's nature it's not as clear cut.

Kids learn with their eyes, ears, hands and whole body at once. A picture, a story you hear, and something you can touch all stick in different ways. Talking to a computer is only one of those. If we stopped using screens, maps, games and drawings, lots of people would find it harder to understand and remember things. Voices are great, but our brains like a mix. That’s why screens won’t just disappear. @elonmusk

I see a lot of negative feedback about Apple’s new UI updates. But you are missing the point. It’s not about glass effects or making every UI element transparent / shiny. It’s about liquidity, depth, and movement. UI that feels alive. We are entering a new era of interface design. What was once static, flat, and fixed is becoming dynamic, adaptive, dimensional. Flat design is over. And flat screens will be too. Sooner than you think. I think Apple’s new UI system is less about a visual update. It’s the first real step toward multimodal interfaces. Where components aren’t bound to a rigid screen but float, shift, and respond. They appear where you need them, and disappear where you don’t. It’s about removing unnecessary clutter and making human-computer interaction feel… well, more human. Just because we’ve spent the last decade staring at opaque UI components doesn’t mean it’s the optimal way to interact with computers. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s the first real step into a new era of UI. The future is screenless. And dynamic components are the new screens.

Why are we building an AI data center that in five years is going to be obsolete, is going to be one one hundredth of the size. And so I fear it's because a lot of the big land developers want to buy up cheap land, flip it for the next AI data center. So it's a greedy thing. It's a greed thing. And I don't want that to happen in our state because you know what? If you buy something and you screw up, you can return it. You could sell it. If you pave over citrus groves or the Everglades or a wetlands to build the data center, you cannot easily undo that.
