It can feel lonely sometimes, but creating your own path still feels better than losing yourself in the crowd.

Being alone and feeling lonely is not the same thing. 😇

I am SURROUNDED by high IQ people and yet I feel extremely--profoundly like this guy. I think there is a percentage of this that is true. However, I will take it a step further. EVEN intelligent people fall into the patterns of the mainstream superficial people. In fact, I think the vast majority of intelligent people succumb to the culture of average and allow their brains to rot. They give up to get along with others and not feel so isolated. The people who suffer the greatest are those who choose NOT to succumb and have the courage to speak out. The attentive, the driven people refuse to let it go. The most courageous, the most active and passionate people with intelligence are the most outcast, and I hate to say it, but if it's a woman, it's much, much worse. Because often those rare men with such qualities are given leadership positions and are admired, the find success even as they are isolated and alone. A woman with intelligence and courage is repugnant to others and often is seen as the greatest threat to social order.

Intelligence is not the inverse of emotional intelligence. It is possible to have both.

I might be the only one that disagrees. I'm sure this is true for a few, but certainly not all. It doesn't fit me. For one I'm never a victim. I live in the woods in Missouri about nine miles from the closest town and I work as a CEO in NYC. I am often alone, but have never once felt lonely. When I'm alone, I'm thinking and solving problems and the work ahead of us. I'm forever curious and there is always something to do, some work to be done that I enjoy and I'm happy with my life. Sure, I could meet more people, but it's a trade-off. I'd be distracted from my work and the things I love doing so from the outside I may seem alone or even lonely, but I'm far from it and I'm happy.

Had a similar experience a few weeks ago at a dress up social gathering I attended. Decided to sit with my wine observing, the women around me where like chickens in a pen, saying most inane things, screeching, noisy, all alike, was kind of wonderfully comfortable not to belong.

Christians in godless families and groups feel like this too. However they have a connection to Jesus that stops them feeling alone. But beliefs can isolate you too.

So true. Not boasting about being intelligent, but I think differently to many. It IS a lonely road. I often wish I was more dumb so I could fit in. I've had to cut back on going to events where I think I'll be bored. Rather stay home with a book.

The more I've matured learned from mistakes and moved on from particularly unhealthy lifestyles the more I've realized it's better to distance ones self it's more peaceful & gives you the opertunity to expand one's wisdom and self appreciation

It is not enough to be a philosopher. You must also be like a benevolent king and a playful child. With humility and the fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom.

I used to be this way but with age you just don't have any cares to give anymore. You realize that you shouldn't shrink to match the room.

This is so incredibly true. People will tell you to let up. Keep quiet. You will only ruffle feathers. Until . . . Those same people become all ears when a problem that could have promptly ended with care becomes malignant and irreversible. That's the way of it in most everything.

That's me. And if I try to talk about something I find interesting, like politics and how the world is. Then they look at me strangely like I'm crazy and wearing a tinfoil hat. It's impossible to talk to people who only follow the news on the main stream media.

That’s only half of intelligence. One step ahead, in addition to perceiving reality, understanding others, their emotions, nature, and thought processes and act accordingly. “Loneliness stems not from intelligence, but from self-centered behavior and disregard for others.”

Me??? Knowing this world is everything God’s Word said. Satan is it’s prince and runs the show under God’s thumb…for now. I am a resident of Heaven and Yeshua is my Lord, Savior and King. I see from the perspective of His Kingdom.

I’ve known this for years, yep. I just calibrate myself, around people, around my family. I have very few friends. And because I’m also introverted I never feel lonely. I’m the one at the bar by myself, enjoying the scenery but not participating in it.🍸

Most folk find it easier to be a sheep and blend in with the masses. This is a weakness they’re probably not even aware of because to them it feels natural. It takes confidence to walk alone and sometimes it can feel lonely but the loneliness passes quickly

Technically all true. Yet polished to a bullshit shine. And the truly intelligent can feel that when they hear it. It's marketing an identity. ...mostly targeting the marginally intelligent. Yes, most people don't want to hear, or can't understand your observations. No, we're not alone...no more than the guy who loves manga. Make a video about them. And why some may be alone? Because they won't meet people in their space. It didn't take me long to understand we show different parts of ourselves to different people. That's not a lie. It's an interface. If you don't do that, you're not alone because you're intelligent. You're alone because you're just intelligent enough to be annoying and not intelligent enough to adapt. Don't get trapped in yet another marketing identity. Use your abilities to discover the farthest fringes and the deepest depths. Don't impress. Especially don't impress yourself. That's just another trap that annoys you in other people.

Intelligent people will observe that over the last year or so an increasing number of social media posts, podcasts, and video snippets are pushing this on-its-face foolish idea: intelligent people are always alone. It's a tactic to have you enjoy your alienation as the State grows, like a cancerous tumour, pushing out natural community and the healthy social pressures of actively building community through recalibrating your own social dials so that you can live and let live, instead of occupying a lonely perch as "an intelligent person meant to be alone" because of their alleged superiority. It's a con job.

I think it has more to do with herd mentality. Some intelligent people still have that herd mentality while others see through that veil as well. Resist that innate, hard wired human compulsion. Only about 10% resist the herd. Resisting the herd has consequences.

Seeing more is not a curse; it is a gift that demands more social responsibility. Truth that ends in loneliness is wasted, it must end in service. Depth that cannot kneel, listen, and love becomes sterile. Most people are not shallow; they are burdened, afraid, tired, protecting what little coherence they have. The task of perception is not to stand apart and judge, but to descend patiently and translate light into warmth. If intelligence separates, love has not yet completed its work.

It becomes insufferable being around or having to listen to unintelligent people, especially when they overestimate their abilities. I can only handle it in small doses before I begin to feel despair or something even darker.

Smart people tend to be alone~not because they hate company but because interacting with the average crowd feels like running a marathon in quicksand~every remark every judgment every needless comment saps their energy~leaving them exhausted by the very act of existing around others

I don't think it's the smarter you become. It's the more in tune you become. I love James Allen over Watts.
