Here's the thing, Uncle partying at 4AM is STILL axiomatically more concerned with what he gets out of his spending than a politician is who does the same thing... and probably orders of magnitude more often since they never earn any of their money in a real market.

Spending your money on others as an act of charity can be thought of as between the top left and right quadrants, imo. You do it mostly for your love of humanity, and therefore the feeling of belonging you get by helping another human being. But it still comes with the limitations of the top left, where you are more likely to "set a budget" on your contributions more generally. It is axiomatic (and a *very* good thing also) that we are more concerned with ourselves than others. This is why freedom is the most critical equation for a sustainable society, no one care more about your life than you do. Believing otherwise is a fantasy.
