My grandparents told us it was the souls of slaves getting revenge who lost their luves in the ocean on one of the worst ports for slavery.

Funny enough, I had just searched for this after hearing about another major hurricane which had prompted an evacuation order in Florida. How sad.

Growing up I believe that hurricanes were the spirits of slave ancestors. Seem to always have a black name like Helene, Ike, Katrina and it always travel the same routes as the ships. Haaaha you can tell a kid anything. Think my Dad joked about that and I took it serious.
