Why is FSD STILL camping the left lane and refusing to move? Why is this SOOO HARD. Speed control and lane choices, I don’t think it can be fixed. I think this is how they have it coded and set to work. Maybe they can send someone to FL...

@ChargePozitive Drives me crazy and you’re right about this, but why don’t you turn the turn signal so it’ll move over? I understand we shouldn’t have to do this.

@ChargePozitive I have and do, but it’s a constant thing. I’ll move it over and then 5 mins later it’s back in the left lane again

@ChargePozitive Yeah I wish it really did learn our preferences like has been said. Chill stays over but is way too slow.

You are not the only person experiencing this. FSD will have the entire right lane to itself and then just decide to get in the left lane right as someone in the left lane is approaching. And I don't think they care. They are focused on robotaxi. Large metros, lots of traffic.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. 1️⃣ agree they aren’t focused on this. I can get it to a certain point. However even robotaxis camp the left lane. Which is wild.

Speed is a map issue. Bad data bad behavior. Yes mine, at times holds the left lane. It will move over for vehicles approaching from behind and the right lane has room to merge. Thinking FSD will drive the same as you is a huge mistake. It has its own driving style. I agree with others, use your turn signal. It is called FSD supervised.

How about, it doesn’t stay in Right lane it will go back to Left lane and sit there on 2 lane divided hwy. I’m not new to FSD. I have owned it on every Tesla (10 of them) even before FSD existed! I have watched this be born and grow. The cyber cab camps the left lane. I’m not expecting it to drive like me. I’m expecting it to do what is common knowledge. Like it used to do before v14.3. People act like I got this yesterday.

Desperately still need stay in lane option and speed control! Let the AI learn from how we limit it. Customers are not wrong on this. More safe to stay on FSD than have to disengage to drive as we expect it to, to "train" it.

Right!! My streak, shows I kinda deal with it. But it cause slight road rage sometimes. Becasue it doesn’t do what it should

Speed control is just awful. It is grandma on two lane mostly empty roads. Get into a construction site and it becomes Mario friggin Andretti. Standard on i95 and it becomes the Incredible Hulk, no one passes me and 22mph over is not uncommon. Absolutely the worst part and easiest to fix, regression of the algorithm or not, this needs fixed. Running yellow/red lights is a thing as is cutting off people when roads merge from two to one lane. So amazing on many things, but not these.

Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻's profile picture
Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻9 days ago

I agree with this. It will also for me wait until the last min and pass someone .1 miles from and turn then get over and slam the brakes in front of some to make the turn. 😭

Yeah, it will stay in the left lane when it wants too. Happened to me in v14.3.9. Its just a thing. Also, in 14.3.9, if I signaled to change lanes, it would commit, but in v14.3.10, it wont and cancel my signal. Gotta do it twice or 3 times for it to make the lane change

Mine is on tye. 9 update. And it fucking sucks donkey cock. It'll switch left lane to pass someone, then out blinkers on for the right but not change lmao..... After a bit it'll change to the middle lane to then change to the left again

Normal in FL. In addition, it hangs out here until its 0.1 mi from a right hand exit.

Mine likes to camp the right lane behind a super slow car as other cars speed around us. By speed I mean they’re probably going the speed limit because we’re going at least 10 below. All while on Standard.

Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻's profile picture
Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻9 days ago

Standard is all over the place. Sometimes it will just not change lanes at all and it hardly ever runs more than 2-3 over the speed limit. Then it will 12 over on a city street make it make sense

In Chicago when there is a sign with 2 speeds (one for cars and one for trucks) it ALWAYS picks the lowest which is dangerous as it sets to 60 when everyone is going 90

My HW3 FSD 12.6.4 does a great job moving over after every pass... Especially in Standard and Chill...On 3 lanes it still only wants to camp in Middle even if I force it over to right lane. It always seems to go to the middle, unless it's in Chill...

I just want it to at least move out of others way when they are on your ass. Speed control is bad to

Dan's profile picture

I agree 1000%...I see cars coming behind me all the time. I want to move over safely as quickly as possible. Honestly 12.6.4 has been super good on this front. Haven't had any issues with the 14.3.9 either.

You’re not. It’s my biggest pet peeve and an unfortunate habit of FSD… One of the things I really appreciated about autopilot back in the day was that it would signal and move out of the left lane!

Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻's profile picture
Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻9 days ago

Yes NOAP was so good at that. Sometimes to good! But I miss that. 13.2.9 was so good at moving out of the left lane. 14.1 was ok with it but it’s gotten worst since vet since

Life Goes Tech's profile picture

Yes, at least in the version I have installed on my car, the speed profiles when used on freeways seem to be how you pick a lane. Hurry = left; any other profile = right.

TheNextAlan's profile picture
TheNextAlan8 days ago

I use a combination of speed mode and turn signals to manage this. Hurry for left lane, standard for right. Occasionally chill or mad max briefly for specific situations. I use turn signals to request a lane change. If it doesn't change there is usually a reason. Works fine.

I second the request they need to give us speed control and no lane change button you can have FSD all autonomous or toggle the constant speed setting and the manual lane change toggle

Definitely not the only one! Although Waymo also likes to left lane camp. These robots must’ve been trained on Prius driver data.

It’s not you it’s your driving style. Right now tesla has a generic driving style. Once they incorporate machine learning specific to the driver profile, it’s going to be fixed. Everyone will be satisfied because the car will mimic your way of driving.

Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻's profile picture
Tyrone Holland🚀🧑🏽‍💻8 days ago

It doesn’t need to mimic my driving style. That’s incorrect. It needs to drive better than a human. It’s common knowledge to stay right and pass on the left when you can do so. Prior version used to do that and do it well! Speed profiles are a mess. The old way of offsets were perfectly fine. Why? Because it was predictable. I knew if I was in a 35 it would do a certain speed over and anymore I needed to adjust it up if I wanted to. Another example, it’s back to going straight from some turning lanes again. Could that be map data issues sure? But we can’t keep using that as an excuse. It had to be able to read signs and understand them. I get it, it takes an order of magnitude to get to 99.9999999%. And each % we get closer to 100% is even harder. But we are also too far along for basic driving rules and guidelines to not be handled correctly. FSD is very good. But it’s struggling with the basic still. That’s the problem.

That’s what I said! They really messed up the program with the last 3 updates. Hopefully .10 works and gets rid of the camera issue

I try, but yes when it refuses to move I have to disengage because I’m afraid of road rage, however if someone starts tailgating you then the FSD gets shy and moves on its own 😂

Try to understand your car first. It acts accordingly to speed limit, traffic flow, and the mode you choose. Try it!

I’ve owned 10 Teslas. I know how they work. This isn’t a try-changing mode thing. It doesn’t work
