Why is housing so expensive?
32 条评论

Because of mass immigration. More people want housing and we cannot build enough to keep up with demand. It's that simple.

Larger population because of immigration = more demand Which people pretend is a 'racist' thing to say but it's actually done out of hatred for the white working class by our ruling class

No mention of increase in demand via immigration. Dunce.

Dude is an idiot

"Socialist explains how Socialism is the reason for house prices being unaffordable while calling for more Socialism to fix it." House prices rose 800% between 1990 and pre the 2008 crash, and have risen around 25% from that peak, to now. It isn't COVID money. It is the money. Gary's economics could do with learning what the Cantillon effect is, but then again if he did, he wouldn't be a Socialist. Separating money and state is the only way this problem ever gets solved.

You play with your nose a lot, don't you? Is that why you forgot to mention the *millions* of immigrants in the last few years alone?

Gary is a clueless clown ~ this is why you are poor⬇️

Poor old Gary. He might have been a good trader but he knows jack shit about economics. He doesn't even understand the relationship between supply, demand and price. "Gary's economics" is precisely the reason everything is shit.

Communism has rotted your brain. You sound very stupid.

Because people like you think that our borders should be open to all-comers. House-building can't keep up with the numbers, nor do most want their country to become a vast housing estate. The basic laws of supply and demand.

Because we do not build enough houses to meet demand. Economics 101 -supply & demand. In places where planning is more liberal, home costs are lower. The UK version of this problem is the 1948 Town & Country Planning act.

You have to be one of the most clueless, cringiest, fakest (I mean that accent), grifting fuckers I've ever come across.

Shut up, Gary.

Too many people. Not enough houses I.e mass immigration HTH

Wrong as usual

Housing price is a simple result of supply and demand in London, supply is low but demand rises resulting in higher house prices Supply is low because the government has red tape that prevents the market to build

The guy has economics in his name but doesn’t understand how monetary policy works. No mention of money supply and central banking printing the hell out of their own currencies which inflate every single asset: real estate, stocks, commodities, etc. No one can be that ignorant especially if he was a trader at Citi. This is clearly some sort of political pawn to help push a much broader socialist agenda.

Your economic illiteracy is impressive. Consider learning why all of these problems started in 1971; fiat "money".

I've never heard such a misplaced assessment

High demand and low supply. It’s that simple. Furthermore, monetary debasement adds fuel to the housing fire

Fuck off you lefty indoctrinated socialist retard. Immigration is the answer.

My god, you do talk some nonsense 😅

Not to be harsh, but the idea that inflation is caused by rich people buying assets is a fundamentally flawed statement that lacks a base level understanding of economics.

Gary, Gary, Gary... Government + Money Printer: h/t @satmojoe

You managed to discuss all asset prices going up without mentioning the expansion of the money supply? ^ Which steals from anyone with fiat savings or salaries. All the issues you discuss still remain secondary to this fundamental issue with how our money functions.

Long winded bollox. It’s called the Cantillon effect. The press don’t know about it because they’re all leftards as well. And lastly, running gigantic public sector = massive borrowing = asset inflation.

You're a clown...you were a clown when you were a trader..you will always be a clown...and what's worse than a clown? A socialist clown.

Who's funding you, Gary?

Because politicians print money - it’s not rocket science! But ohh wait.. you don’t understand basic Austrian economics…

Gary looks like an angry ill informed dummy. In other words a pet the media likes to give airtime to because a pet is entertaining while keeping you unaware of the source of the problem.

Because there's 12 million or so, people here who shouldn't be.

lol, who are these rich people casually lending their extra cash to poor people to buy houses? That’s not at all how it works. No, the banks create the capital for mortgages out of thin air due to fractional reserve banking. Then you’re expected to pay it all back, plus the completely imaginary “interest” - all of which is completely fictional and doesn’t exist in the real economy. That’s why housing is so expensive. Because it is the asset of choice that allows for monetary expansion by the banks. Why housing? Because then if people can’t pay back their mortgage, the banks can just take your house. With the added bonus that if this happens on a mass scale, the government (who Gary trusts so much, despite the fact that they are enabling this system of indentured servitude), will just bail out the banks with even MORE printed money - exacerbating asset price inflation further, and making rich asset owners even richer.
