The system is fully corrupt, from lawmakers to judges to the voting system, all have been captured and corrupted beyond repair. Voting will not get us out of this, they control the system completely. Revolution- removing all the corrupt offices and starting over is the only way.

It's a port city, the Communists targeted the ports first, they take control and impose a tax on anything fixed or moving and use the revenues to take over customs and immigration & the administrative state.

Mild weather. Natural beauty. Scandinavian ancestry. Mostly white (US racial disparities can be more readily discussed in the abstract). Relatively young; few of the urban problems of older cities -- yet. Higher ed lavishly funded. Large # of atheists. Etc.
