Just cause I like giving context this is the Kamek item in play, it's shown to do many different things such as placing hazards on the map and I guess this is another example of what it can do lol you see kamek pass by all the players before they actually turn into goombas

p sure its cuz of kamek, you can see him fly off to first place and probably does a random effect to anyone in the top 5 or so I've also seen footage of kamek spawning cheep cheeps to 1st place during a water area so I imagine the effects are completely random
