Sikhs of whole country rejects reprehensible statement made by Chief Minister of Sikkim regarding issue of Gurdwara Sri Guru Dongmar Sahib Chandigarh: Addressing the press today at Chandigarh, the General Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal and secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal Gurjeet Singh Talwandi condemned the statement made by the Chief Minister of Sikkim regarding Gurdwara Sri Guru Dongmar Sahib and said that this place is associated with the visit of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru. The case of this Gurdwara Sahib is sub-judice at the High Court of Sikkim and the decision has been reserved by the honorable court. In violation of the honorable court, the Chief Minister of Sikkim said that under no circumstances will Gurdwara Sahib be allowed to be built, which is highly reprehensible and illogical. The SGPC is committed to maintaining this Gurdwara Sahib as per the Sikh Rehat Maryada (Code of Conduct) as it has an association of the visit of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. While the sentiments of the entire Sikh world have been hurt by the statement given by the Chief Minister of Sikkim, there is also a huge resentment in the community.
