Probably because Sony made a deal with Netflix right when animated films weren't making much money at the box office during the pandemic (in 2022). That, or Netflix was simply happy with Sony Animation's films and wanted to have for the platform more exclusive content from them.

Maybe it is a contract situation like not 100% Sure, but maybe Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix made a deal that they had to make 2 Movies for Netflix, and they just chose Kpop Demon Hunters to be second one releasing on Netflix and the Movies after it are Going in theaters
