Why Modern Player Are More Technical Than Old Players‼️

For me this has always been such a weird one because you are right in a literal sense but then the real argument is if you then give said players the same technological and systemic advancements would they be technically better than the current modern day pros, which I think is yes e.g easier ball to use, better boots better pitches, better recovery I think the older players we speak of would be a level above the majority of the current crop

I disagree, the sample size of people who play football and scouting networks have only increased. The number is so big I think it’s mathematically silly to assume a smaller pool would beat a larger pool. Obviously, if given the modern tec the old player would be much better…

See I disagree again, I think these players played towards the top of the potential they had with the equipment and environment they were given and the reason they were so good is because of their adaptability both technically and mentally alongside their astounding ability to pick up new skills and process stimuli as quickly as they did, so being in the modern era I think these qualities would still be standout in the modern game and alongside their technical flexibility, which would definitely improve, their elite mentals would then make the difference between them and the rest of the crop in the modern day

Modern players do all this too though at a higher level. The old guys have no edge. Again naturally even with an even tech playing field the majority of the professional landscape would come from modern players because the pool you’re picking them out of is so much larger

Hm, while I disagree I understand you, I think you’re underestimating the levels that these old blokes actually had to process everything at, especially considering they were essentially told to figure it all out whereas nowadays systems reduce the level of mental processing for a lot of players imo

Yeah but equally because of that they had 10x more time on the ball to make a decision and 10x more space to hit because defences we’re terrible. It also shows they had to figure it all out because the quality is terrible
