@vemby_marfico This machine probably costs 1-2 years salary of an employee and can work 24/7 for 50+ years

@vemby_marfico Doesn't complain, doesn't ask for raises, doesn't unionize, doesn't fuck up constantly.

@vemby_marfico Becuase human brain capacity is wasted on repetitive tasks. Automations like these free labor to perform more complex functions. Basic Sowell economics.

@vemby_marfico Humans have to be paid forever, take time off, get sick, and less efficient. This doesn't need any of that and once the cost is recovered there is no cost any linger aside from maintenance and power to run it.

@vemby_marfico because you need to pay them and insure them

@vemby_marfico This can perform the actions at the same speed night and day. This device does not complain, get sick, have babies, request time off, need lunch breaks, demand raises, demand overtime, demand benefits or demand better working conditions.

@vemby_marfico Because of labour costs and this machine can run for 24 hours. For that you need 3 humans to do the same work. That said, by the looks of it, this machine needs a little improvement.

@vemby_marfico Because machines don't join an union and go on strike. Also humans shouldn't be wasted on moving plastic bottles anyway.

@vemby_marfico Do YOU want to do that job for min wage? Or buy a machine for $50-60k and it works 24/7 for years to come. If you want manufacturing back in the US this is the way to do it. Automation, not manual labor.

@vemby_marfico Because humans charge per hour. That machine can keep sorting things infinitely at a fraction of the cost.

@vemby_marfico Because over the tens of thousands of hours this machine will work, it will be orders of magnitude cheaper than any human worker.

@vemby_marfico The human hands require sustenance which require money, more money than the electricity cost of the 20W motor that's turning that wheel and the propeller at the same time. Idk why I came like grok explaining shit. Closing the app now.

Simple repetitive processes like this are EXTREAMLY boring. They are prime candidates for automation. Even if the job is extremely easy to do the fact that it's the same thing and it's so boring means the task is actually LIKLEY to create a defect or error. Generally, these videos of manufacturing show the process at a slower rate than during full production as well so this likely could go faster than shown.

@vemby_marfico Well you see, the ceo knew a guy who knew a guy. And that guy wanted to do some cross collaboration, they needed some onsite training. We circled back, touched base and decided on a cadence. In the end we spent 400m to save 35k a year. But it was worth it, digital transformation.

@vemby_marfico Menial and boring work for people to do. No paycheck, sick time, overtime, holiday pay, workman's comp? Just 24 hour a day machines that need occasional servicing. That is when the human hands should come into the equation; to fix the machine.

@vemby_marfico I dont think hands would fit in those slots, plus I think bottles can hold more liquid than a human hand could. Plus the smell would be bad.

@vemby_marfico It’s not about replacing hands it’s about a world that never paid those hands enough in the first place. Automation is just the excuse.

@vemby_marfico Because machines don’t collectively organize, and human hands are attached to humans with entitled demands that make the bringing the product to market cost prohibitive for the business.

@vemby_marfico because someone said Minimum Wage needed to be $15 per hour. So the two guys that did this job would cost more then building this thing. So they got laid off and now this thing has their jobs.
