Kevin Keegan Tribute - Liverpool! When the draw was made for the first game of the season Newcastle United vs Liverpool we thought it would be a very hostile game.. As requested by Alex Miller yesterday, a look at our out of possession shape in the first half. 1: (10 secs) - Wednesday in a very narrow high block in a 523 out of possession. It only looked like this when the ball is central. Nowrich rotate (change positions during play) a lot and this narrow block denies central rotation. In this clip, they have had rotation in left back position as the CM has dropped into the area and left back on the last line. 2: 20 secs - When the ball went wide or started to move wide, the full back would advance up the pitch to pressure the full back and press full back to full back, whilst the CBs would come out with the Norwich forwards coming in between the lines, as this ball transitions across the pitch you see Sargent come out and Iorfa following tight. Fusire in this clip has come out to mark full back to full back and creating a makeshift back 4. 3: 47 secs - Wednesday get back into their narrow block shape 4: 56 secs - rotation from the front line form Norwich 5: 58 seconds, Palmer comes out of the back line to pick up the rotation and prevent space between lines. As the player turns to our left, Amass starts to come out to pick up full back to full back on the other side. In summary, Wednesday played their familiar 523 blocking shape out of possession but it was much more proactive in the back 5 than we usually see it, with full backs and Cbs following rotations and stepping out of the backline to prevent space between lines. It worked, first half. Norwich combated it a little better second half. Will get a clip out tomorrow of what they did

WHY Wirtz needs to SLOW DOWN | Tactical Report 56 high-speed runs per 90, MORE than ANYONE ELSE in the league but before we get to that... At Bayer Leverkusen, Wirtz averaged 9.7km per game. In England, he’s already gone up a level: ⏫11km twice 🔼10km once ➡️ Every PL game (including community shield) so far he’s out-run his Bundesliga norm. His Liverpool heat maps show him everywhere... right, central, left ... whereas at Leverkusen he was mainly a left inside forward in a 3-4-2-1, scanning the same pictures, linking up with the same set of team mates down one side of the pitch (for the most part). October 3, 1982 SUMMERALL AND MADDEN CALL DIVISION-III COLLEGE FOOTBALL Wittenberg vs. Baldwin-Wallace During the fall of 1982, in the midst of the NFLPA's 57-day players' strike, CBS needed to get creative with their Sunday afternoon programming. So on October 3, the network sent Pat Summerall and John Madden to Springfield, Ohio to call Division-III Wittenberg's game against their rival Baldwin-Wallace — each school with an enrollment then of about 2,000 students. Three other #NFL on CBS broadcast teams called Division-III games that weekend as well. Both Wittenberg and Baldwin-Wallace, as well as the Ohio Athletic Conference, were paid $10,000 each for the game. The video includes the CBS open and pregame introduction by Pat and John, the first several minutes of the game, as well as some select highlights from this historic CBS broadcast. Just watched some in-possession bits from Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough, and although plenty of great accounts on here have already broken down how they set up with the ball, I thought I’d also share a few thoughts of my own. There’s been a lot of talk about their structure and the methodical, sometimes slow, nature of their build-up, and I largely agree with that. It isn’t rigid; players aren’t locked into zones at all times, but there is a clear recurring picture. The left back holding width, the right back tucking inside, the 3-2 base in build up. That structure is very evident, but I'm not going to talk about that. What really caught my eye was the intention to change rhythms across all three thirds. The slow circulation mentioned can very quickly turn into sharp vertical play or quick combinations, often without warning. The centre backs, along with one of the central midfielders, seem key to this in deeper areas. They are often the ones responsible for accelerating the game during a passing sequence, whether through sudden carries, changes of direction, switches of play, or simply finding a brave pass through the press. In the middle third, the use of a staggered midfield and central overloads allows players to operate on diagonal angles to find and link passes, and when you add the constant movement from the wingers and the attacking midfielder, it regularly sets the stage for UBTs or third man combos\runs, creates the conditions for these tempo shifts. In the final third, similar principles apply, especially in wide areas where triangles are formed to facilitate combinations. Wingers and fullbacks are clearly encouraged to take on their man in 1v1s, and pass and move sequences are used to increase the tempo. While a lot of this play happens out wide, targeting central zones through diagonals or cut backs is also a recurring feature. On the downside, and although I felt the players always seem to be on the lookout for opportunities to increase the tempo during these passing sequences, it sometimes feels like they wait a bit too long before executing a quick action. That hesitation is, in my opinion, what gave their build-up its “slow” reputation.

The rest are okay, just to recover from the last week. He did already a huge effort to try to play the game. He wants to be there to help his teammates in that kind of game. It's more day by day, week by week, game by game, to see how he is. Enzo Maresca on the game against Manchester United🔵 The game is dictated from the red card. When it was 10v10, we had almost 70% possession. I hope we don't have any more games with 10 players after 3-4 minutes. Enzo Maresca🔵 Anyone can say what they decide to say, it's not a problem. I think we improved a lot last season. We closed the gap. This season, the main target, is to continue to improve the players and team, and close the gap. Enzo Maresca on Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia🔵 They are not back for this game, unfortunately. They both took part of the session yesterday. Hopefully they can be available soon. Victor Munoz is exactly the type of winger Andoni Iraola has built successful teams around. Direct, aggressive and constantly looking to attack defenders rather than recycle possession. Ibrahim Mbaye, 18, PSG -Excellent 1v1 dribbler, rides contact in the challenge with relative ease despite his size - Excels in a variety of different situations - RW but plays on both flanks - Great eye for a pass - Can hurt you wide or in the half space - Direct, pacy, energetic - Works hard on both sides of the ball - Won't take up HG spot given his age Mbaye is definitely a player that possesses the attributes that Andoni Iraola looks for from his attackers. His underlying data looks very good. Albeit a small sample size, he stacks up well against the likes of Rayan and Yankuba Minteh, two players Liverpool are said to be very keen on. A right footer who plays on the right. I think we could see Iraola use him there with the idea to get beyond the fullback to the byline, and create opportunities for Isak in a more consistent fashion. Though not a starter level week in week out, yet. I can see Mbaye taking a similar trajectory to someone like Rayan, who was a similar age range when he signed for Bournemouth. With a price tag in the realm of €40-45m this looks like it could be a shrewd bit of business for Liverpool, securing one of the best talents in Europe without breaking the bank.

Thought for today…. I would like to thank Alexander Isak for his behaviour and forcing to leave Newcastle. I would also like to thank Liverpool for the duplicitous way they unsettled him. Why FFS you may ask? Hear me out… 1. The bloke is not a team player as he showed last season with his performances at the start and end of last season and we only want fully committed players at our club. 2. At some point due to the corrupt PSR rules we were going to have to sell a big player to enable us to move to the next level. It might as well be one with the lack of character and morality that he has shown. 3. Isak and Liverpool have handed us a massive windfall that has the potential to transform the club over the next few seasons. Without this we would not be able to move forward as quickly and we would all be waiting for the axe to fall on another star player. That is less likely now. 4. We now, potentially,have the strongest squad in my living memory (with the possible exception of Keegan’s Entertainers but who knows they may surpass even them) 5. The new CEO and Sporting Director (both of whom are top class if reports are correct) will be walking into a club that is united from top to bottom and in a very strong financial position. A club that has qualified for the Champions League in two of the last 3 season and won its first domestic trophy in 70 years. A club that is clearly on the up. 6. PIF will hopefully have learned lessons from what happened this summer and even though it was a little late they acted in the last few weeks and made sure the end to they transfer window could be deemed a big success despite the circumstances (next up get the CEO and Sporting Director in and announce a new stadium) 7. Eddie Howe, Andy Howe, Jamie Reuben and Steve Nickson have cemented their reputations. Regarding the post-match handshake situation from yesterday's game, we would like to make a statement: Once Again Esports and our players respect every opponent and their team. The actual situation after the game yesterday was as follows: After the defeat, the players were still immersed in the emotions of losing. There was no post-match handshake during the rehearsal process the day before. And on top of this, it has been a year since the last match for our players. Therefore these procedures were indeed a bit unfamiliar by them. Several players did not immediately notice that the opposing team's players were waiting behind them for a handshake. However, as soon as they realized it, they immediately stood up to shake hands with the opponents, but unfortunately, the first few opponents had already left. Player GUXUE had some equipment issues at the time. And while he was busy sorting out the equipment issue, he did not notice the opposing players and missed the handshake. He feels very regretful and sorry about this afterwards. Finally, we would like to reiterate: Once Again Esports respects every opponent. Twisted Minds played very well yesterday, and we hope that we can resolve this misunderstanding and both teams can focus on doing their best in the upcoming matches.

I think they kind of both play in the same rhythm, but I feel like it kind of feels like it’s maybe ‘your turn-my turn’ a bit rather than having like a two-man game such as Denver has with Murray and Jokic, but they both have the ability to create for each other, which I think came and went at times. I think that could’ve been a little bit more consistent, but I don’t think it’s a bad fit... But yeah, they both kind of play fairly ball-dominant. They like to create a lot of their own offense, and that sometimes makes it a bit of a tough partnership just because you’ve got to remember to also have that ability to keep the music playing as we like to say, keep the ball moving.”

Tactical Report [1st half]: Nkosingiphile “Mshini” Ngcobo📝 Role: Central Midfielder / Controller Observations: Tempo Management: Mshini effectively dictated the pace of the game, controlling transitions and ensuring the team played to his rhythm. Positional Awareness: Maintained excellent spatial awareness, constantly scanning surroundings to anticipate opposition movements and adjust positioning. Passing & Distribution: He showed composure in possession; consistently found forward passing options without forcing risky balls. Created and exploited passing lanes to connect with the likes of Shabalala and Ighodaro across all areas. Combination Play: The understanding with Ox was particularly effective; they maintained optimal distances to facilitate fluid build-up and maintain team structure. It's not perfect, but they give the team improved quality together. Defensive Contribution: Showed high commitment out of possession, applied intelligent pressure, closed passing lanes, and maintained positional awareness. Even after Ox was removed, he was the pivot who used the ball to manage the game and supported the build-up. Impact on Team Play: Provided stability in midfield, controlled transitions, and allowed other players the freedom to operate with confidence. FT Spurs 1 v 2 Liverpool The referee made himself the star of the show in the first 30 mins every shoulder to shoulder challenge was given against us then came that Simons red at first I thought it was a slip but the replay showed a clear red.what was he thinking he’s let the team down. We fought so well up until that moment and we did so well when we went down to 10 men in the first half. Isak came on as a HT sub and of course he scored soon after but was injured scoring the goal. It was a bizarre Cuti pass that created their chance of course Wirtz got his first assist as well. It was very getting fiery out there Cuti was losing it with the ref and their players.Cuti was again at fault for the second from Ekitike. Then on comes Richy and buries a goal game on and we are thinking could we until Cuti gets sent off he’s cost us big time today . We at least battled which was what the fans wanted and they responded with support throughout the game . #COYS 💙🤍

My #SundayShare is a breaking lines practice. Teams locked in zones look for opening for penetrative pass to a teammate for a point (waist high limit on passes). If intercepted, the other team tries the same. Coaching points: · Positioning: to receive both on half turn (in own area) and square to receive penetrative pass. · Scanning: where are the gaps? · Receiving: controlling with good first touch. · Movement: to receive and offset opponents. · Technique: firm push pass with follow through. · Deception: feint pass. Progressions: (1) players on two touches; (2) first time penetrative pass = 2; (3) after two passes, one opponent can enter the quarter for a 1 v 3. If they win the ball they pass back to their teammates and re-join their group. Formed first practice in whole – part - whole session with the U11 as part of Block 3 of the training syllabus.
