What people don't appreciate is that what's maintained the international system and the US position in that system are the middle powers as principal stakeholders, and that's because they perceive the current system as the best one for them. If their perception of America's role and its intentions changes, then the U.S. no longer has a great argument for why these middle powers should support them on different issues. America then becomes just another powerful state; the most powerful state, but one that is both pursuing interests and is using its power more coercively, which you've seen at least in the last month. And so very quickly, we will begin to generate antibodies in the system and coalitions against us on different issues. And we will quickly discover that the reason why the system has endured, why unipolarity has endured and why America's position has endured, is not because we have so many carrier strike groups; it's not because of military power. It's because most countries, although they publicly don't like to admit it, are stakeholders in the system and they see it as the best system for them compared to a bipolar or a multipolar world order. That's the reality. Usually when they say multi polar world order, what they mean is one that's more multilateral with greater room, greater opportunities for smaller states and middle powers. And that's fair. But what they don't mean is that they're all staying up at night and saying, you know, we wish that Saudi Arabia, Russia, maybe Iran and Turkey had a lot more power than they do right now. Because if you ask who would be the powers in the multipolar world system, it's usually not the countries that people want. And so, this kind of will be my closing argument that I think some folks in the U. S. are very short sighted and misunderstand the genuine sources of U. S. power and our position and what keeps it in the international order and what maintains it. And if you pull that thread, you will quickly start unraveling something and you will have an epiphany afterwards on what the order is really based on. — Michael Kofman

Yes, indeed, this is lawlessness by any standard. Even by banana republic standards, this is still lawlessness. Your country has a constitution, it has a government, it has a police service, and it has a ruling party. I am sure you can see that some of the people there are actually wearing ruling party T-shirts. It is lawless regardless of whoever does it. It is an embarrassment to South Africa as a country, what you are doing and what you are encouraging people to do. Your country has an immigration service. If people are in your country illegally, they should be arrested and deported through lawful processes. You do not go around destroying property, tearing down markets, and attacking people. It is illegal regardless of whoever does it. It is not illegal because I have said so. It is illegal because the laws of your country make it so. This is vigilantism, pure and simple, and it is tainting the reputation of South Africa, not only across Africa but across the world. If you have got satellite television in your home, you can see that these actions are being reported everywhere. It is not good for your country. This kind of barbarism undermines the rule of law, fuels division, and damages South Africa’s standing as a constitutional democracy. It is the actions of a few that are tainting the reputation of many. The average South African is not mindless like this. The Green Party would have you believe that hope and solidarity won them the Gorton and Denton by-election. I beg to differ. What this by-election gave us was a window into the future of the United Kingdom. A future where attempts to rig elections are no longer hidden. Where sectarianism plays a dominant role. Where the flag of Pakistan is openly waved in the streets of an English constituency. It will only get worse. They will be emboldened by this. After all, in the end, the result wasn’t even close. None of this should surprise anyone who has been paying attention. I’ve been at this for approaching eight years. Everything I have been documenting, everything I have been warning about, is exactly what you witnessed. The institutions dismissed it. The press ignored it. And yet here we are. Which brings me to the question everyone on the right is now avoiding - what does this mean for Reform? Reform need to win seats like Denton and Gorton if they are serious about the next General Election. That they didn’t come close is significant. What it tells you is that they do not have the experience to fight the cartels. You cannot parachute in PPE graduates and expect them to understand what they’re walking into. Enthusiasm is not a strategy. Optimism is not a ground operation. But this is not a counsel of despair. We know it can be done, because we have done it. In Oldham, election after election, we have faced these exact tactics and beaten them. We have defeated the metropolitan elite, the mobsters, and their bloc voting Muslim partners in 4 consecutive elections where we took out their party leaders and took the council into no overall control. By whatever means necessary, the Greens got their candidate over the line in Gorton and Denton. The tactics they and Labour used only surprised people who have never witnessed them before. We have. And we won anyway. Experience is not transferable from a seminar room. If Reform are serious, they need to start learning from the people who have actually fought this battle and not from those who have merely read about it.

This is a pertinent clip from Sam Harris on the moral difference between Israel and her enemies. The moral difference comes down to understanding the answer to this question: what would each side do if they had the power to do it? TRANSCRIPT: The truth is that there is an obvious, undeniable, and hugely consequential moral difference between Israel and her enemies. The Israelis are surrounded by people who have explicitly genocidal intentions towards them. The charter of Hamas is explicitly genocidal. It looks forward to a time, based on Koranic prophesy, when the earth itself will cry out for Jewish blood, where the trees and the stones will say “O Muslim, there’s a Jew hiding behind me. Come and kill him.” This is a political document. We are talking about a government that was voted into power by a majority of Palestinians. The discourse in the Muslim world about Jews is utterly shocking. Not only is there widespread Holocaust denial—there’s Holocaust denial that then asserts that we will do it for real if given the chance. The only thing more obnoxious than denying the Holocaust is to say that it should have happened; it didn’t happen, but if we get the chance, we will accomplish it. There are children’s shows in the Palestinian territories and elsewhere that teach five-year-olds about the glories of martyrdom and about the necessity of killing Jews. And this gets to the heart of the moral difference between Israel and her enemies. And this is something I discussed in The End of Faith. To see this moral difference, you have to ask what each side would do if they had the power to do it. What would the Jews do to the Palestinians if they could do anything they wanted? Well, we know the answer to that question, because they can do more or less anything they want. The Israeli army could kill everyone in Gaza tomorrow. So what does that mean? Well, it means that, when they drop a bomb on a beach and kill four Palestinian children, as happened last week, this is almost certainly an accident. They’re not targeting children. They could target as many children as they want. Every time a Palestinian child dies, Israel edges ever closer to becoming an international pariah. So the Israelis take great pains not to kill children and other noncombatants. What do we know of the Palestinians? What would the Palestinians do to the Jews in Israel if the power imbalance were reversed? Well, they have told us what they would do. For some reason, Israel’s critics just don’t want to believe the worst about a group like Hamas, even when it declares the worst of itself. We’ve already had a Holocaust and several other genocides in the 20th century. People are capable of committing genocide. When they tell us they intend to commit genocide, we should listen. There is every reason to believe that the Palestinians would kill all the Jews in Israel if they could. Would every Palestinian support genocide? Of course not. But vast numbers of them—and of Muslims throughout the world—would. Needless to say, the Palestinians in general, not just Hamas, have a history of targeting innocent noncombatants in the most shocking ways possible. They’ve blown themselves up on buses and in restaurants. They’ve massacred teenagers. They’ve murdered Olympic athletes. They now shoot rockets indiscriminately into civilian areas. And again, the charter of their government in Gaza explicitly tells us that they want to annihilate the Jews—not just in Israel but everywhere.
