Why this argument sucks:

Sharks are a tiny percentage of the fish in the sea. The amount of people who are bitten by Sharks is a tiny percentage of the population. If you're swimming and see a shark, just think about the statistics and don't be so sharkphobic.

Lying With Statistics is the actual name of a class my mom took in college in 1970. It had a slightly different name when I took it in 2002 but it had the same purpose: deliberately manipulate data to shut down debate on an issue.
