This is stupid and ignores basic capitalist economics. Public transit raises the value of any property in its proximity just by existing. The American petite bourgeoisie is so ignorant of how the system works that they’ll shoot themselves in the foot just to get a check
Taxes go to subsidize falling apart highways so cut that out too. PA Turnpike tolls subsidize State Police which are used by the rural counties that in lieu of any local police. So cut that out too.
Getting public services in exchange for your taxes is not a "psyop." Public transportation makes it easier to get around cities, even for people who DO choose to drive cars, because there's less traffic on the roads. Your arguing for something that will bite you in the ass.

What a moron. No one is trying to force people out of driving and onto public transit. However, if SEPTA makes the cuts he's talking about, people like myself and many others will be car dependent. I hate the thought of having to go back to the stress and expense of a car.

Seniors, whether directly or indirectly voted for more bureaucracy, more tax payer funded government jobs. You voted for our jobs to be shipped to China. You voted for wars in Iran and Afghanistan even though you were lied to. You voted for Wall Street to buy up single family homes. You voted for H1B visas and the Indian takeover in our tech industries. You voted for 38 trillion dollars in debt. My generation will never be able to retire, we won’t be able to own a home in a nice zip code. There will be no social security for us. I think it’s time you guys take some responsibility for where the country is at. 👌🏾

SEPTA is nothing more than another wasteful, corrupt, mismanaged outfit. They operate on the same principle as the government..As my father said, as far as money goes, their thought process is simple " fuck em, it's only tax money, we'll get more of it"
I would assume you are more outraged that we subsidize HORSE RACING to the magnitude of $200 million or more annually in the state. Maybe we should take that money to support a public service. Fund SEPTA.

We used to have much more extensive public transportation. Europe has fiscally sustained and surpassed ours for decades. Not everyone is able perhaps due to income, age or disability to transport themselves. There’s no reason we couldn’t be on par with Europe or even Japan
This is why they keep raising the tolls on the Pa turnpike.
Defund Septa so there will be more cars on the street.
We have no problem funding highways at tenfold the rate and horse racing though

I think Septa should receive public funding, given it is a public service, but they should do a better job of keeping it safe and clean and collecting fares. If they increase utilization, it will require less funding, but the economic output it enables is greater than its cost.
