They forget that we don’t answer to them - They answer to us. They don’t pay us - We pay them. Chris Bowen has broken just about every promise that he has made. Industry is furious, electricity users are furious, and now motorists are furious. They promised that power bills would come down. Instead, power bills have gone up, while at the same time industry continues its exodus. The government is propping up a select few corporations with tax dollars and even taking over some directly. That is not the sign of a healthy energy market, or sustainable industry. It is not the sign of success that Bowen needs to maintain a modicum of credibility. So, Liam Bartlett calls him out, asks him real questions that cut to the viability of Bowen’s solutions to our real energy problems. But instead of answering Bartlett’s questions, the Minister responsible for the broken promises chooses instead to attack the journalist. Liam Bartlett is finally asking the questions that need to be asked. He is not just smiling and curtseying to the press corps - he is doing his job. Bowen shows us the answers, not by the words he says, but what he doesn’t say. It begs further questions. For me they are; Who does Bowen think he is? Followed closely by, who does he think he answers to? The answers are as obvious as the lack of answers he provides about our energy future. If it wasn’t so important, it wouldn’t really matter. But on a large and isolated continent like Australia, energy security is our life blood. Without an abundance of cheap and reliable energy, we will starve. Bowen might think his primary role is curating the swooning reporters he likes, but we all know that it is not his job. He answers to us. If he finds the questions uncomfortable, too bad. If the press required him to explain the truth of the storm we are really in - a storm that has been brewing for decades and is now spiraling out of control in front of us - then so be it. We can’t fix what we can’t see. Bowen must level with us. If he can’t fix the problems, get out of the way for somebody who can. Bowen should sit down with Liam Bartlett, and respectfully answer his questions. The people of Australia deserve nothing less. I just want Australia back.

Lex Fridman asked Elon Musk what the meaning of life is. His answer was not what anyone expected. We do not know, he said. And that is exactly why we need to expand consciousness. Today, Bowen announced we will be raiding 20% of our roughly 30 day fuel reserves. This is just two weeks into a conflict that could last months. China’s CO₂ output from coal-fired power is already higher than Australia’s on a per-capita basis. Bowen can be a useful idiot for China all he likes, but it doesn’t matter how many renewables China adds — these renewables are not replacing coal. China has no transition; it’s all addition. China has a further 484 GW of new coal capacity under construction or in development. This is in complete contrast to Australia’s position, where we have zero new coal plants under development, and “Blackout Bowen” is planning to close down the ones we have (21GW) and replace them with intermittent renewables. So China is going for more coal — and it’s all addition, with no transition — while Australia is all about attempted replacement. There’s a huge fundamental difference between the two positions. There is nothing worse than the feeling of betrayal. Feeling as though we have been used to further the cause of an individual, who had no concern for us at all. Such is the plight of the people of the federal seat of McMahon, Chris Bowen’s seat. A man who has never had a real job in his life, has been elevated all the way to the top of the COP, on the back of the hard working and long-suffering people of McMahon. With one of the largest industrial zones in the country, McMahon has felt the brunt of the energy crisis caused not by climate change, but climate politics. The prioritisation of emissions reduction over the cost and supply of electricity, as Bowen has pressed hard toward his goal of his fanciful goal -100% renewables. A strategy that will never work. The truth has finally come out. He doesn’t care if the Australian energy grid burns to the ground. He doesn’t care that his neighbours can no longer afford their power bills, or the cost of food, driven up by the relentless increases in the cost of electricity. He cares only about impressing his contemporaries on the world stage. If all the world is a stage and the men and women only players, Bowen thus far has been a bit of an extra. But he has finally succeeded. His rapid deindustrialisation of this country has made him a big enough star among the global powerbrokers (who don’t care about Australia at all), to allow him to transact his way into the consolation prize – no benefit to Australia at all – he will now be the President of COP31. He will lead negotiations to primarily help our pacific neighbours benefit from the global wealth redistribution scheme that has become the politics of global climate socialism. Where wealthier countries like Australia completely gut themselves on the altar of global climate justice. Bowen has proved himself a useful tool to the powers that be. A man happy to betray his electorate and his nation, all so he can transact his way into an even better if not so real job. Bowen is not unique. Religious texts did not convince him. So he turned to philosophy. Reading Schopenhauer and Nietzsche as a depressed teenager, he says, was a terrible idea. 2. Then he read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and something shifted. Douglas Adams argued the real problem is not finding the answer to life. It is figuring out the right questions to ask in the first place. 3. In the book, Earth is a giant computer built to answer the meaning of life. It spends millions of years computing and delivers its answer. The answer is 42. The joke is that nobody knows what the question was. 4. That idea never left Musk. The universe is the answer. If something wipes out Earth, the question never gets asked. 8. The cost of energy is skyrocketing because Bowen’s bowl of spaghetti energy transition is an epic fail. As his cultural sensitivity mask crashes to the floor. I challenged Chris Bowen in McMahon for many reasons. Chief among them, I don’t believe he represents most of the people in his seat. There is no better caricature of the scale of the misalignment than his giving an acknowledgement of country in Dubai -at COP 28. Not only did his electorate vote a resounding “no” to the referendum, it also doesn’t prioritise climate action over cheap and reliable energy. In fact, the seat is highly damaged by the feckless and fruitless energy policies of the Albanese government. Especially the rapidly rising cost of electricity. The seat is about as far removed from the COP 28 brigade demographically, as Dubai is from Blacktown geographically. Yet Bowen fits right in at COP. As he acknowledges all the worlds traditional custodians on foreign soil to a crowd almost as confused by this as he is with his portfolio. An empty virtue signal – just like COP 28. Filled with pretence and hollow promise, he comes from the side of politics that wears their so-called cultural sensitivities as a bravery medal. I think it is all empty spin personally. Helpfully, Bowen proves this pretence to be as empty as his pasta bowl in the Holy Mass. You would be forgiven for thinking that the majority of McMahon are empty suits, taking junkets to greenwash the grid with broken systems – to enrich the grifting global 0.1%. But no. The majority of McMahon are hard-working people of faith. The largest religious community in McMahon are in fact Roman Catholics. Followed by Protestants. One of the things that people seem to miss about seats like McMahon, is that they are mostly people of faith and community. Most of them common-sense folk, who just want a fair go. Bowen treats the electorate with contempt. He tries his best to bribe off this community group or that, mostly in Fairfield, in the hope that together with the base Labor vote and small Green fringe it will carry him home. So, he sits in a Mass, during communion and eats a bowl of pasta. I don’t believe it was his first Mass. He also knows not to eat during the service. I assure you, there is no way he would have sat in a Chaldean Mass at Christmas and ate a bowl of Pacha. Because he understands precisely what that would rightly do to his community standing. The fact that he sat in a catholic mass eating a bowl of food while talking to his mates, demonstrates his utter contempt for the largest faith group in his community. He probably doesn’t understand the deep connections between the beliefs of that group and those he spends his time trying to impress. I don’t think Bowen is a talented minister, I think he has presided over the most destructive period in industrial Australia, since industry. I also think he has no belief beyond his own self-promotion. He demonstrates this with things like his insincere and ridiculous international acknowledgement of country - juxtaposed against his utter contempt for those of catholic faith in McMahon. He apparently denies knowledge of his surroundings as he sucked on his spaghetti – nonsense - Bowen, must come clean. He must admit he has no real cultural sensitivity and that all the rest of his pretence is nothing more than a rouge. That and the fact that he is directly responsible for the rapid increase in the cost of energy and his idiotic blind transition to renewables – as the world is walking away. Surely, we can do better. We must. I just want Australia back.

Bowen demands that inconvenient questions not be asked. Inconvenient truth is supposedly irresponsible. Hearing him bloviate, you get that sinking feeling. You want to believe what you have just heard, because it is comforting, it is nice. But, there is a sensation that wells up from a place AI can’t turn its chipset to. It’s a discomfort. It’s a disquiet. It’s a distress. You know deep down in your gut that it is a lie. Worse than that, your eyes see something completely different, your ears hear something different too. Everywhere you look there is evidence of the opposite of those soothing words. Cleverly chosen words, little more than spin and propaganda. The gentle whispers form deep inside urge caution, they turn comfort into frustration, and the lived experience turns frustration to anger. A quiet rage, as more of us queue up for even more expensive fuel. As Chris Bowen goes from telling us ‘there are no shortages’, to ‘yes there are shortages’, caused by ‘panic buying – but supply is fine’, to admitting there is a supply problem, but it is due to a mix of corporate greed and a panicky public. Soon I am sure there will be an admission that there is a supply shortage, due to poor planning and a complete lack of ability for us to solve it, because we wasted decades destroying the fabric of industry here in Australia – all to help prop up developing nations around us. No... On second thought… Bowen would never admit that. I doubt he will even be pressured to - because the reality is both sides of our political system have been asleep at the wheel. If it is not obvious to you by now that Australia has been in a real and structural decline since at least the early 2000’s, you are simply not paying attention. It is time to wake up to the facts. Australia has been living on the neighbour’s credit card, and we have grown entitled to so many unsustainable things, it will be very painful when they stop paying the bills. Our neighbours have grown tired of carrying us, and it seems it is all coming unstuck, and all at once. Globalisation is rapidly failing. The world is changing – fast. Our fuel supply is uncertain. Our strategic reserve is too small; our supply chains are not robust enough, and the fact that most of it is offshore is terrifying. Worse, we have a housing shortage – largely due to a lack of supply on one side, and out of control immigration on the other. The system is under pressure, and the economy is being held up with paddle-pop sticks and sticky tape. The cracks are patched over with I love NDIS stickers. Our systems are groaning, our standards are slipping and real wages are in absolute decline. The Albanese Government is clearly out of its depth, and Albanese himself is not bright or experienced enough to fix it. He and Bowen are just lifelong politicians. They’ve lived their lives in the bubble, and they just repeat lines written for them by staffers. Staffers trained in the Unions, lobby firms and corporate government relations roles. None of them can even connect the dots between the lies they spew, and the truth we feel. They don’t suffer the consequences of their bad decisions. They dine out and discuss their next great distraction, while Australians line up for the things we once took for granted. There is a seething anger bubbling just below the surface. You can see it on the faces of the passers-by. You can hear it in the voices of friends. It is all coming unstuck, all at once and Canberra has not got a clue what to do about it. Canberra, and the various state governments around the country have caused most of these problems, through a mix of wrong action and inaction. But the people feel it now. We see it for what it is, and we all want something different. The opposition don’t have much time to prove they will be any better. Sure, they have a new look team, but they still seem to miss the point. Maybe it is because they are concerned about their part in this giant mess. Maybe they too are unsure what to do. Is the American Dream still alive? 👇🏼 I believe it is, but I won’t pretend it hasn’t been impaired. My dad made $32,000 a year. He bought a house for $16,000. That same house is worth $780,000 today. When I priced his 1976 wages in 2016 dollars, 40 years later, his purchasing power was down 27%. He could not afford today the life he was able to give us. There is real tragedy in that and we should be honest about it instead of pretending the ladder is still where it used to be. But here’s what I refuse to do. I refuse to say it’s dead. It’s just waiting for leaders worthy of it.
