I actually somewhat disagree. Think about it: if blood can make it out of the cervix for menstruation, it will make it past the hymen. If the woman has been sufficiently aroused, the vaginal tissues are a lot more welcoming and do a better job of stretching, thus, less or no bleeding/pain. It's possible to not even "break the hymen". In most cases tho, couples may be rushed/nervous and the experience is a bit more experimental vs completely relaxed and ready their first time together.

Number one is the condition and nature of the hymen, if it has been broken due to vigorous activity or exercises, or it has opened up due to age or other factors not necessarily that the woman had a canal activity before the marriage.
