an AGI is not a toy, it's not a like any civilian technology at all. It's the most powerful weapon and the most poweful tool ever created, all in one, like having invented the wheel again, but it doubles as a thermonuclear device. It will certainly be held close to the chest.

Does Kokotajlo have a definition of intelligence? As as a former student of philosophy, he should know that we don't have a solid one. Until then, the AGI discussion will rest on shaky ground and will continue to be the same mix of extatic hype and doomsday scenarios.

Always excellent takes from @DKokotajlo67142. Keep in mind that robot plumbers are maybe two years away. The RL feedback loop from humanoid robots is coming soon enough. You can think of them like the Tesla cars, sending huge amount of high-signal data to these data centers.
