Will always be blown away by how absolutely satisfying this moment from the end of Rogue One legitimately is. Seeing these giant Star Destroyers crash together to ultimately destroy The Empire's shield over Scarif is just as visually striking as it is thematically profound.

Rogue One is an absolute master piece imo

It's so good. The empire keeps assuming it has the upper hand with firepower, size, and numbers. But a little unconventional thinking can send them falling over.

The whole scene leading up to this, too. In moments, without exposition dialogue, we learn that Admiral Raddus is a tactical genius. Shield is up, Star Destroyer disabled by Y-Wings in proximity to both another Star Destroyer and the shield gate. Comms from the ground setting the stakes - taking down the shield is essential for mission success. "Call up a Hammerhead Corvette. I have an idea. Stand by Rogue One, we're on it."

Grow up. Utterly illogical. You think no one on the SD saw that coming towards them? It doesn't have sensors to monitor it's environs? Or guns to engage threats? There's just the one fucking window? That it's engines can counter the thrust of the ship?

A moment heightened by Michael Giacchino's shift to a more somber score. He does that over intense action, like George Kirk ramming the Narada in Star Trek 09 and a during major battle in a PS2 era WWII game he scored. Makes those scenes memorable.

This scene was incredibly retarded. That little frigate completely pushing a Star Destroyer completely took me out of it

The idea of a tow barge pushing military vessels one against each other and into port facilities is excellent, and for some reason it reminds me of that cargo ship that stopped the suez canal and choked the world

This scene pushes me past suspension of disbelief. If such a simple tactic was so effective then Star Destroyers should have been no threat at all.

It’s an impressive scene but honestly it made the Star Destroyers appear incredibly fragile. As if they were made of paper-mâché. I’m surprised it wasn’t ripped to shreds when that Hammerhead hit it.

Rogue One slips in between Episode III & IV seamlessly. The only one of the Disney films to actually feel like it belongs in Lucas' Star Wars Universe.

It made it feel like these ships were made of paper they tore apart so easily. Imagine two modern naval vessels hitting at a similar relatively speed, sure they'd be damaged but you wouldn't see one get ripped in half. Contrast that with the Andor scene where Cassian steels the Avenger prototype and just slams it into everything with no damage.

Especially with the crazy plan Admiral Radash had to have a Hammerhead Corvette drive into the disabled Star Destroyer then right into the other! It shows why the Rebellion got props in A New Hope.

it seems a little much. the collision should just scratch up the other ships hull and destroy some equipment and canons but it shouldn't slice trough the whole thing like a knife. the scene looks cool but makes star destroyers come across as flimsy "made in china" quality

Nah personally i think the physics makes no sense, if they're that structurally fragile the hammerhead itself should smash right through it. Love Rogue One, but this specific thing nah.

And that it was one of the hammerhead corvettes that Leia “donated” to the rebels in an animated show episode made it so much more satisfying.
