Some species, like the Bethany Beach firefly, are already considered critically endangered, while the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to list the firefly as endangered for the first time.

This includes the bald eagle and the whooping cranes that have long called New Mexico home. We’re now two days from Congress recessing for the holiday, and the GOP is trying to gut the ESA, alongside the National Environmental Policy Act, and after a vote last week to gut the Clean Water Act. This is Project 2025 in action, and we are fighting back—because protecting our public lands, waters, and wildlife is not negotiable!

The first modern #EarthDay, along with the creation of the EPA, & the signings of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act & Endangered Species Act — all bipartisan endeavors, not politics. People cared about clean air, clean water, their kids, their grandkids because Mother Nature doesn’t care about politics. California has a responsibility to continue to lead & we plan on doing just that.

Honey bees are not endangered. There are more honey bees on the planet now than at any time in human history. Keeping hives of domesticated honey bees does not ‘save’ endangered native wild bees - it can make things worse for them. #bees #nature
