This is just so obvious to me and my wife that it was barely a footnote in a discussion. It was just married “OURS” I ALWAYS made more money than her but it’s ALWAYS been OURS. WHEN I BUY SOMETHING. we talk. When she does we talk (big ticket items) We budget together. It’s ours. Not mine. Not hers.

I tried that. My ex husband spent every penny I had, every dollar that came into my business plus ran up every one of my credit cards + bought cars with my credit and let them get repo’d. I went from and 800 score to a 450. So that worked out great.

@MonikaMusing Oh hell no. Guaranteed I bring a lot more to the table than whoever I marry. She didn't have a fuck all to do with that. She ain't getting that money. That's mine. She can choose to divorce me whenever she wants and take half my shit that I earned? Absolutely freaking not.

Nope. Know too many people divorced. For the first 5-10 years, if both are working: Setup a joint account. Contribute equally to it. This makes it easy to split after divorce. One person will not contibute as much. Setup spending allowances to go to each person’s equally.

So what if one makes zero (or significantly less), has absolutely no care to make decisions or manage the bills etc? Still a ‘we’? No chance
