It’s all the carbs, the insulin response to the carbs, and the frequent intake of the carbs and the insulin response. Eventually there is always insulin circulating and never turned off. This leads to the muscle cells and other cells to become resistant to the insulin, which is what pre-diabetes is.

A few are coming forward & talking about being diabetic. They were shocked at first, then when they learn about metabolic syndrome they make the necessary changes

Very consistent with my experience. Lots of T2DMs in Pelotonia 100 Mile bike race in OH. Unfortunately, my fashionista wife refuses to walk with me when I'm wearing my Peluvas . . .

It can be more than exercise and body composition.

@LoreofRunning1 @zbitter @B_Holmer @hubermanlab @CaseyMeansMD @calleymeans @bryan_johnson @BenBikmanPhD @DominicDAgosti2 @ChrisPalmerMD These people not only eat too many carbs but use the supplements too. One thing doing it for races even though the effect is questionable, but these people do it daily for training

Investigative science journalist Nina Teicholz: "There's a large body of rigorous research... showing that a diet higher in fat and lower in carbohydrates leads to better outcomes in terms of diabetes, obesity, heart disease." "When you eat [carbohydrates], they're converted in your blood into glucose. Glucose is a simple sugar... and it's like a quick fuel, and your body uses that up, and then when it's gone, you want another hit." "But if you become what's called a fat burner... your primary fuel is not glucose, it's fat—with the fat that you store in your body, and also the fat that you eat." "You can have two fuel sources as a human being. You can either live on glucose or fat. If you've got a healthy metabolism, you can switch back and forth between them." "People who... have just been living on carbs for a really long time, mainly glucose—they can only get their fuel from glucose... They can't switch over to fat to burn their own fat." "Imagine I were a 300-pound woman. All that fat on me? That is fuel... That's like having granola bars strapped all over my body, right? I should be able to access that fuel... and I can't access it because my body doesn't know how to burn my fat." "And that's what happens when you live too long living off of glucose as your only fuel source. You cannot switch over and burn your own fat." "It's like living on top of a well and not having a bucket to get yourself a drink of water, and then you die of thirst." Credit: Nina Teicholz, PhD Joe Rogan

Douglas Murray just shattered the “failure” narrative with receipts after Bill Maher declared the Iran operation a disaster and called for the U.S. to “cut and run!” MAHER: “We did it and it didn’t work.” “Now what? Do we cut and run or do we stay the course?” “I hope Donald Trump is the abandoner he’s always been.” “We always cut and run!” “We did it in Vietnam, we did it in Iraq, we did it to the Kurds, we did it in Afghanistan, we did it in Beirut.” “That’s us. No lifeguard on duty.” “If you get in with us, we are going to fck you, and that’s Donald Trump. He’s an ashole but he’s our a*shole.” Murray pushed back with a blunt assessment of what he says actually happened on the ground: MURRAY: “I disagree because I think once started, you have to finish this.” “I don’t agree that it’s failed.” “It’s been an incredibly successful operation in lots of ways.” “Supreme leader dead, Iranian air force destroyed, nuclear sites attacked again.” “The Navy of Iranian Revolutionary government at the bottom of the ocean.” “These are not small things.” “It’s not the case that the Iranian Revolutionary government has come out of this well.” “I know that some people are wanting to say that after four to six weeks of war, this is some kind of loss for America.” “It isn’t.” “It’s an amazing strategic success but everyone wants to know what the out is.”

James T. Roberson III of Bridge Church NYC denounces the assassination of Charlie Kirk but spends roughly half his statement (and even the following prayer) dragging the man's name through the mud: This morning before we pray, I want to lean into some of the political tension in our country and the recent assassination of gentleman named Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated this past Thursday, I believe. And I've written out a statement here. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 reads this way: "For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God. And we take every thought captive to obey Christ." In this text, Paul is reminding us that as believers, our battle is not a physical battle. It's a spiritual battle God has called us to be a part of. And it is therefore not fought with carnal weapons but with spiritual ones. And I think in this political tension that we live in, Charlie Kirk and other political activists, particularly some on the evangelical right, often see ideas and policies that claim to be Christian, but they're fought with in a carnal posture. They're fighting for Jesus with anger and harshness and rage. And the danger of that is when you when you fight spiritual battles in a carnal way, the world responds with that same carnality. It's as if the world says we know how to do worldly better than you. So, let me be clear. I denounce his assassination veheminently [sic], and we all should. That shouldn't be hard. It's wicked. That's obvious. It is also wicked to celebrate his death. It is carnal to celebrate his death. To lack empathy for someone who doesn't have empathy for you is to live in carnality. At the same time, while he fought for ideals that he believed were Christian, I also denounced the way he carried himself and especially the way he talked about black people. So, here's what I want us to remember as a church, what I need all of us to know. People are not defined by their ideology. They are defined by the image of God. Genesis 1 says "God created them in his own image." So here's what we've got to understand. Charlie Kirk, at his core, is not a Republican or a conservative. He is a child of God made in the image of God who has right-wing positions. And as a believer, we're called to see people not politically but spiritually. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5, "From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh, even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh." I think we're getting some feedback over here, FYI. So, let's be clear. We should be grieving with his wife, his kids who have woken up this morning without a father. We should weep with those who weep, and we should be praying for their families. But I also grieve for our country that elevates people into hero status and martyr status so quickly. Disagreement is not wrong, but it's how we disagree that matters. And my prayer is that we, the people of God, would resist the temptation to fight our battles with carnal weapons. Instead, let us choose a spiritual posture that Christ has given us, because truly, the weapons of our warfare are spiritual and not carnal. Amen. Pray with me. Father, we pray right now that as we jump into the word here, we do lift up the Kirk family. We lift up those who are weeping this morning. And I pray, God, for a spirit of compassion in this room. Make us wise with what we post online. Make us wise with what we watch online. But just because someone fought for Jesus doesn't mean they fought like Jesus. God, I pray for a spirit of peace. I pray that a spirit of fruit in our community and I pray that we would renounce all elements of the flesh. Now, God, be with us. Speak to us in this time. In Jesus' name. Amen? Amen.

Can CGMs be harmful? Continuous glucose monitors are big business these days, and for sure, they can be helpful. Especially for people with type 1 diabetes and anyone treated with insulin, they can be a godsend. 🙌 However, they are now also promoted as tools for anyone to "avoid blood sugar spikes" to improve health and weight loss. This obviously expands the market massively, but is this a good and helpful way to use them? I would argue a CGM can be a good tool, if you know how to use it right. However, there are a couple of concerning risks if you don't, as I discuss in this clip: 1. Adding fats on top of any food will lower your blood glucose spike, but it can also add tons of extra empty calories, which may be counterproductive for weight loss, etc. In effect, lowering your blood glucose spike this way may lead to weight gain, not weight loss. 2. Healthy people on strict low-carb diets tend to develop "Adaptive Glucose Sparing," a fancy way of saying their glucose levels become very sensitive to even small amounts of carbohydrates. Wearing a CGM in this situation may make people afraid of even tiny amounts of carbs, like a few blueberries, thinking that any carbs are dangerous. A couple days of eating slightly more carbs could remove this issue. Berries and similar foods are hardly dangerous for healthy people. With those two major caveats, I'm all for testing CGMs and learning about blood glucose reactions to food. What is your experience with CGMs? Please share in the comments. More The clip is from my recent appearance on the Optimize Your Body podcast with Martinsilvafitness. Here's the full podcast on YouTube; it's also on Spotify and all other platforms:

YOKO ONO: ONOCHORD, VENICE, 2004 Yoko: The world is divided in two industries. One is the War Industry and the other is the Peace Industry. The people in the War Industry are totally together. They don't have to talk to each other, even. They know exactly what they want to do. They want to go out there, kill and make money. But the people in the Peace Industry, which are us - we are so idealistic that each one of us criticises the other Peace Person in the Peace Industry. And we are always just arguing and we are wasting our energies doing that. So let's just forgive each other and see that we are in the Peace Industry and that's all that counts. Even if you are not marching for peace, just be yourself, being a florist, being a merchant, being a talior, anything. That way you're contributing to the Peace Industry. People are just concentrating on fear, confusion and anger. And therefore just for a moment, I'd like us to think about Love. In a very magical, straight way, John and I met in London and from then on we stood for Peace and Love. And when I do this kind of event. Well it is... I was inspired to do it, but I still think that I'm still with John in spirit. John and I created the country called Nutopia. Not Utopia, because there was Utopia as a concept already. And we wanted to create a new concept, so we just added N on it - Nutopia - and as a country. Well, that is the concept of a country. And we all are citizens of that country. And in my apartment in the Dakota Building, we put a little plaque on the back door, the kitchen door. It says 'Nutopian Embassy' and even now we have that. (laughs). Nutopia exists in our minds. And because of that, some people want to rebel against it. The reason some want to rebel against it is a good proof that it exists. I think that it was a terrible thing that happened in Chechnya. But we have to still keep our hopes up. And instead of giving up, we have to keep on sending the message of Love to each other. You say that I am the Ambassador of Peace. We are all Ambassadors of Peace. You are too. Everybody in this room are Ambassadors of Peace. Just the fact that we are not participating in War. The fact that we are here, and we are what we are, means that we are in the Peace Industry. All of us. John and I used to say that our apartment in the Dakota is a conceptual monastry, just for the two of us. And when we go out of the Dakota, we get so many people communicating with us, so it's very important that we had silence and quietness. And my apartment is a very small space compared to the world. And I need that for my peace of mind. You should be kind to each other. You should come together, hug each other, love each other, express our love to each other and we should make it work. We should finally create a world that is a totally an Earth for Us. So let's do it. Yoko Ono, OpenAsia Press Conference, whilst exhibiting Onochord, 2004 by Yoko Ono (Nutopia) at the Venice Biennale: OpenAsia 2004, Lido Di Venezia, Venice, Italy, 9 September 2004.

WATCH: You can see the pain written all over RFK Jr.’s face as he lays out just how sick America has become. The numbers are gut-wrenching. • “We announced this week, CDC announced that 76.4% of Americans are suffering a chronic disease. And my uncle was president, it was 11%. In 1950, it was 3%.” • “We have the highest chronic disease burden of any country in the world and yet we spend more on healthcare than any country in the world. We spend two to three times what European nations spend. We spend nearly as much in our country for healthcare as all the other nations in the world combined. And yet we have the worst health outcomes.” • “We’ve lost six years in lifespan and longevity to Europe in the past 20 years.” • “Our girls are hitting puberty six years earlier than historically. Our young men have sperm counts that are half of what they ought to be. They have testosterone levels that are half of what they ought to be.” • “We have diabetes that is now endemic, not just epidemic. It’s everywhere. Thirty-eight percent of teens are now diabetic or pre-diabetic. When I was a kid, it was zero.” • “The autism rates, which the president is particularly concerned with, have dropped from less than one in 10,000 in 1970 to one in every 31 kids today. This is a national security issue.” • “Eight out of 10 of our young men cannot qualify for military service. It’s national security. It’s our economy. It’s wrecking. This is an existential crisis for our country.”
